What ill side-effects would there be if I decided to cut fruit out of my diet completely? I eat about a kilo of mixed fresh vegetables each day, so I have other sources for, say, vitamin C.

None...you're good to go. |

If you're getting vitamin C, potassium and manganese elsewhere, you'd probably be fine without it. It's kinda tasty though.... |

A deep sense of loss. ;) Seriously though, if you're hitting the veggies that hard, you'll find all the same nutrients. |

None. There is nothing in fruit that you can't get from veggies except for sugar/glucose/fructose unless your veggies include tubors. Re vitamin c -- red bell peppers have more vitamin C than citrus fruit. Eat them raw though. |
