If there's more fiber and nutrients in coconut butter than coconut oil, why aren't we talking about coconut butter? Or am I wrong?
Help me out. What's the difference?
I got some of Artisana's coconut butter after hearing Gary Taubes talk about how much he liked it on his last podcast with Jimmy Moore. And just like he was, I was hooked after trying it. Yum!
Their coconut butter is essentially pureed coconut flesh ... so it is not just the extracted oil from the coconut. I've never tried cooking with it or using it in a recipe, but would guess it would work similarly. But OTOH, if I were going to be cooking a lot, I'd probably go with coconut oil ... seems like a more specific application.
Coconut butter is the only nut butter I or anyone can feel ok with bingeing on.
Lots of saturated fat, and fiber. All good and delicious.
For a long time I tried to find a drawback. There isn't one. All the benefits of coconut oil, with just some carbs in it in the form of fiber.
For me coconut butter is a snack-y food, like almond butter.
I don't cook with coconut butter the same way that I cook with coconut oil (like for frying), so the oil has more utilitarian purposes than the butter.
In some countries coconut butter is just another name for coconut oil. Product links and such would helpful although from your desciption "more meat and fiber" I'm guessing you're talking about creamed coconut.
Now I'm confused. What's the difference between coconut butter and this coconut cream concentrate made by Tropical Traditions? http://www.tropicaltraditions.com/coconut_cream_concentrate.htm
I eat this concentrate the way I used to eat peanut butter -- by the spoonful. Would coconut butter be better for me? Thanks!
Artisana Coconut Butter is absolutely delicious and the specs on this stuff seems super clean! For the most part most coconut oil has just about zero carbs, where coconut butter has about a 7 g carb 6 g of fiber ratio.
