How long does it take for your nails to return to normal healthy size?

I just chew mine down, no clippers, and spit 'em out. What's a bad habit about that? |

What's normal length? I think anything beyond about 1 mm of "white" growth is weird looking, at least for a guy. I do unfortunately resort to chew on them to keep them to the length I like. Bad habit be damned. |

I used to nibble on mine when I was younger until they'd break off. Looked pretty ugly. Then I started applying a coat of nail polish topcoat (clear) because it tastes awful and acted as a deterrent to biting them. |
