We all know that paleo is only as effective as is the lifestyle we lead. I've just started a new job and boy is it stressful to go thru a time of such uncertainty. My question is what are you stressing about now?

Oh boy! I did a "system check" and, thankfully, I'm not stressed today. When I am, however, it's almost always related to my 17-yr-old grandson, who lives with me, and his dad. I love 'em, but ... – Nance Nov 3 2011 at 17:56

Where to start indeed.

I'm uber stressed about having to move to a completely new town at the end of my junior year of high school. That's gonna be great. No friends, just in time for summer. I'm going to have to start a whole new tennis training program and get a new coach, and club, and everything. Honestly not sure I'm going to be able to deal with that. And having to work out all the new classes and teacher recommendations and college is also coming up soon (I could write paragraphs on that. Books, probably). AP classes are also a major stressor. I should be studying at the moment, but I've already spent the past 2 hours making flashcards. AP BC Calc's a bitch but I'm eking out an A- at the moment. Then just drama and such. WOO HIGH SCHOOL.

My grandma's also dying and she's been horribly sick for the past two years. My mom is not taking this well and so my whole family seems to be in limbo at the moment.

My knee, which I had major surgery on last April, is acting up again. This is a very bad thing because I'm a competitive tennis player just restarting nationals and trying to get recruited for college. Possibly going in for my 12th (no that's not a typo) MRI soon. This is a huge stress at the moment. I went through 12 months of rehab, 5 months on crutches. It can't be injured again.

I'm also running on exceptionally little sleep. I can barely function.

I've been fighting with my sister for a while now too. And I kinda lost my best friend about 6 months ago and it absolutely blows to not have someone that close to tell everything to.

Sorry for the essay, but it feels good to write everything out.

You are such an unbelievably amazing person for your age! I read your thorough, thoughtful, SMART answers sometimes and it's easy to forget how young you are! I am very sorry about your grandma, you are a wonderful daughter to be thinking of how this is affecting your mother instead of just how it is affecting you. <3 GET MORE SLEEP. It will help everything. – sherpamelissa Nov 1 2011 at 18:29
big hugs. you have a lot going on, and im sorry. all i can say is that everything will be ok, one way or the other. you always have us to vent to here and on fb. rest yourself as much as you can. xoxoxoxox – being Nov 1 2011 at 18:51

I've got 10 years on you and I have to say you kick my butt in the maturity department. Those AP's are going to come in veryyy handy come college time, the more gen ed's you don't have to take the better. Keep your head up! – Nutritionator Nov 3 2011 at 18:33

Right now I'm pissed off that one of our vendors keep sending us crappy work. This affects our sales for the day, as we receive an invoice yet cannot process the job until it's been corrected. So we have to get it restarted and the job has to sit for a couple more days while it's being reprocessed. TWO expensive pairs of lenses came in with crappy anti-reflective coatings. Then another pair came in, thick as bricks and had to be remade for the 3rd effing time. Plus our sales are down, doctors are taking a week off here and a week off there, and it's just killing us. Other labs in the area who are backed by corporations can afford these sorts of setbacks and spoilage, but when a job gets screwed up for us it really hurts.

Money may not buy happiness but having it is less stressful than not having enough.

I think I just want to run around butt naked in the rain and piss in someone's flower bed.

That outta get it out of my system!

You run around naked in the rain and piss in someone's flower bed, only when you're STRESSED? For me, that's a pleasure day. – Dorado Galore Nov 3 2011 at 19:32

The stress of raising a child, the decisions that I have to make on a daily basis (what to feed her? when to discipline?) are more than I ever imagined.

If I go off the bandwagon and eat crap, that's all on me. But my 16 month old can only eat what I give her. So her food is all on me, too.

And that's a lot of stress.

I also find it stressful to be the person who is "responsible" for the whole family's health status because I'm the one doing the cooking and the shopping. I don't really like to cook, so sometimes I find it exhausting after a day of work... maybe I need a crock pot. – gydle Nov 1 2011 at 15:20

Being a parent is hard work. Much harder than I ever imagined it would be. Being the primary caregiver for the family is not a small job, but it's important! – blueballoon Nov 1 2011 at 16:21
gydle, that is so true. I am totally in charge of what everyone in my house eats - down to what my husband gets for his lunch for work! And I would totally say you need a crockpot - it's the only way I stay sane! :-) – Sarah Nov 3 2011 at 22:10

I wonder if this room would grow mute if the question instead were: What blessings will you count today? Hey, I'll test.

I'm blessed for the gift of life. For the capacity to draw a full breath and imagine what is within my reach to create from scratch. For smiles that come to me unexpectedly, returned in the same spirit. And for the damn good espresso on the table in front of me.

Yeah!! I was in the middle of listing things that stress me out and then read this! Nice. – Carly Nov 1 2011 at 16:12
Yes! I'm blessed with two children who are healthy, a husband who is the love of my life, and furry kitties to cuddle. – blueballoon Nov 1 2011 at 16:22

I have an exam, a quiz, and two papers due by week's end. But even worse, I'm out of ground beef. Damn.

I can't decide how to answer this question! I think my heads going to explode! Why did you have to ask!

I don't stress anymore since I put up a poster/diagram (author unknown?) next to my desk that goes something like this -

Do you have a problem in your life? No? Then don't worry.

Do you have a problem in your life? Yes? Can you do something about it? No? Then Don't worry.

Nurse in long term care, supporting an unemployed spouse who is changing careers and going to go back to college to finish my degree. Really it's my job because I feel like a beast of burden LOL!

Where to start!!

I'm stressed because we've just moved to Brazil, our shipment has arrived and the apartment still isn't ready because apparently 2 months isn't enough to fix minor things like outlets, faucet leaks, clean it as agreed upon!!

I'm stressed because the AC's we are installing in the new apartment after 3 wks of doing all the wires, pipes thru the ceiling and out walls has stopped because they dont have the wall units nor the compressors...and our containers need to be delivered with our furnishings next week. (apartment is a major construction mess with debris, dust etc.)

I'm stressed because I have to travel next week and can't receive the containers with my stuff in my apartment!!

I'm stressed because the oven in the apartment was on for 24 hours and ready to start a fire, due to faulty wiring, turned on by itself...now we need to replace it. Thank goodness we stopped to check on progress and found it on before a fire started.

I'm stressed because the owner of the apartment is getting paid rent now 2 months in and hasn't done a thing, including fixing a leak in a wall that is stained and cracking. Now I have to do it in a hurry because I need to move in now!!

I'm stressed because the relocation company that our company hired to help with our move has bent over backwards to accommodate the owner of the apartments requests and literally ignored all of ours (repairs, etc.). What they dont know is that part of my husbands new job is overseeing this service, so he'll be firing their arses soon!!

I'm stressed because we've been in a hotel for 2 months and eating out alot and I've started developing lots of tummy issues again that 10 months of primal almost healed. I just started back on LDN for the inflammation because its bad.

I'm stressed because my brother made an offensive comment to my daughter (insulting both her, me and my son because of frustrations in his life but in a mean and hurtful way) and isn't adult enough to apologize to her even though he was in the wrong.

wow, thanks, I needed that!!!

I love how there are other college students here that know exactly how I'm feeling.
I had neurobiology AND nutrition exams last Friday, a genetics midterm today, an epidemiology take-home midterm on Wednesday, and a presentation to give on caffeine addiction next Wednesday.
Lack of sleep = super stressed. No bueno.
But I bought a pound of bison today so that should keep me happy.

I have yet to try bison. Maybe I'll treat myself to a pound of bison when I submit my thesis on the 28th! – mtalipova Nov 1 2011 at 20:25
The first time I tried it, I wanted to cry tears of joy. It's amazing. It's like beef, but with a flavor that's more subtle than lamb. – April S. Nov 1 2011 at 21:59

MONEY!

I know they say it doesn't buy happiness but it damn sure pays for a lot of things that make me happy.

Grad school can't be over soon enough.

Being made redundant and having to work out that period until the end of the year for a bunch of utterly clueless folk who have no value for their workforce at all. Counting the days... :-)

Trying to decide which state bar exam to take. Graduating. Finding a job in my field. Passing the said bar exam. My final thesis paper that's due on the 28th.

Everything else is too small to care about.
