Has anyone tried using goat milk/cream/cheese instead of cow's milk? I am super sensitive to dairy products made with cow's milk, but seem to tolerate goats' milk products quite well.
I also found a wesbite: http://www.goatworld.com/articles/whygoatmilk.shtml that states this maybe because the lactalbumin, which is generally the cause of sensitivity is different in goats and cows. Yes, there is still lactose, but it is digested better by most with a cow's milk allergy.
There is also a neat graph that shows goats milk has nearly double the med-chain fatty acids as cows! I can handle the cheese...but how does the milk taste? Yogurt is good, but definitely "goaty".

Goat's milk is a lot closer in composition to human milk, so some people tolerate it better than cow milk. My kids get eczema if they have too much cow's milk, even raw, but are totally fine with raw goat milk. Goat milk isn't "goaty" when it's very fresh from a very clean facility. Our raw goat milk is delicious(not that I can tolerate it anymore, but I remember!)
I don't really know what people mean about the "goaty" taste! I am one of those who seems to have less of an issue with goat's milk dairy than with cow's milk dairy. Too much of any dairy and I'll feel some ill effects, but I definitely notice I tolerate goat's milk dairy much better. Zero problems with goat milk kefir it seems.
I had a nubian goat and her milk was sweet. Every goat has a different tasting milk.
Nubian goats have the highest butter fat, so their milk is sweeter.
Off tasting goat milk has not been processed properly. The milk should be immediately filtered, put into a sterilized container and plunged into iced water. Usually this does not happen in commercial dairies because there are a lot of goats to milk and the milk sits around, sometimes without even a lid on it and dust, which can contain just about anything, if you get my gist,settles in and gives the delicate milk the customary so called " goaty " flavour. As much as I loved my goat's fresh milk, I don't like, nor would I bother to drink commercially sold pasturized goat milk.
Cheese is a different thing. I think goat cheese is superior to cows cheese. Its easier to digest.
We can buy sheeps cheese and ricotta here in Italy and its very good.
