Oral vitamin C is weak antibacterial agent (unlike intravenous C), it's mostly a virus cleansing thing, although it will help to threaten bacterial infections by making the immune system stronger and will effectively eradicate specific pathogens (like H pylori, 5g/day). This is probably a good thing since orthodox medicine is full of antibiotics and has totally failed when viruses are in question.
I have used Echinacea, propolis, coconut oil, and D3 mega-doses along with my typical C mega-dosage H2O2 and Lugols Iodine mouthwash. I have totally failed so far with Lugols as it creates toxic reactions (used 3mg).
Oregano oil has been mentioned, Manuka honey, shiitake mushrooms, etc...
Does anybody have any great experiences to share? I haven't had any infections in recent years apart from mild sore throat on occasion, but I want to be ready and have a "Dr. Rambo" antibacterial protocol! :)
If you wonder, why not mainstream antibiotics? I guess you know they are full of negative effects - from c. difficile / candida overgrowth to vitamin K/B deficiency and other things. A recent article on wired.com presented info that showed some microbiota strains don't reappear for 2 years after 2 weeks of antibiotics. Maybe some of those results are in effect for natural ones, too..
My personal bad experience with antibiotics lead me to study self-healing and stop visiting doctors. They made each next infection far worst and the dosage far bigger until I was constantly sick, using the strongest ones (if you ask in the pharmacy for the drug and they say to you "Really? Are you sure? " you know something is wrong) and I still have some fungal problems from it.
