Oral vitamin C is weak antibacterial agent (unlike intravenous C), it's mostly a virus cleansing thing, although it will help to threaten bacterial infections by making the immune system stronger and will effectively eradicate specific pathogens (like H pylori, 5g/day). This is probably a good thing since orthodox medicine is full of antibiotics and has totally failed when viruses are in question.

I have used Echinacea, propolis, coconut oil, and D3 mega-doses along with my typical C mega-dosage H2O2 and Lugols Iodine mouthwash. I have totally failed so far with Lugols as it creates toxic reactions (used 3mg).

Oregano oil has been mentioned, Manuka honey, shiitake mushrooms, etc...

Does anybody have any great experiences to share? I haven't had any infections in recent years apart from mild sore throat on occasion, but I want to be ready and have a "Dr. Rambo" antibacterial protocol! :)

If you wonder, why not mainstream antibiotics? I guess you know they are full of negative effects - from c. difficile / candida overgrowth to vitamin K/B deficiency and other things. A recent article on wired.com presented info that showed some microbiota strains don't reappear for 2 years after 2 weeks of antibiotics. Maybe some of those results are in effect for natural ones, too..

My personal bad experience with antibiotics lead me to study self-healing and stop visiting doctors. They made each next infection far worst and the dosage far bigger until I was constantly sick, using the strongest ones (if you ask in the pharmacy for the drug and they say to you "Really? Are you sure? " you know something is wrong) and I still have some fungal problems from it.

Yes pharmaceutical antibiotics have negative effects, but dying from a bacterial infection would seem to be a worse negative effect. – conciliator Nov 5 2011 at 17:17

I agree. Thats the point of all this - finding the best tool for the job. – majkinetor Nov 5 2011 at 18:49

For instance, you could use vitamin C megadose to kill h.pylori or 2-4 different kinds of antibiotics. Doing former will have 0 negative effects with similar or better outcome. Doing later will also help, but it will produce disbiosis and malnutrition – majkinetor Nov 5 2011 at 18:53
Something either is or is not a strong enough antibiotic against a certain strain. Why would a natural antibiotic that's of equal strength to a synthetic antibiotic have a different effect? Take allicin from garlic for example, why would it be different from low dose penicillin? Vitamin C should get absorbed in the small intestine, which is supposed to be rather sterile, no harm done. Got a study on treating H. Pylori with vitamin C? – Dean Nov 5 2011 at 20:11
@Dean, its not hard to find those.. I have around 20 in my catalog. – majkinetor Nov 6 2011 at 9:43

A friend of mine's kid had terrible digestive problems starting from birth. Gas, diarrhea, cramping, etc. She took the kid to a myriad of doctors. Did allergy tests, elimination diets... Some things helped a little but they never felt that the kid really had normal digestion.

Finally they took him to a naturopath, who said the kid had fungus overgrowth, and prescribed... garlic. The kid was about 4 at the time and they worked garlic into as many meals as possible. Mashed potatoes, chicken, roasted garlic on pizza, or by itself, etc. There were about 4 weeks of die-off / backlash, but finally the kid established pretty normal digstion and has been fine ever since.

Garlic is a natural anti-fungal and of course is delicious to boot. My theory is that whole, natural foods that are delicious have positive nutritious / medicinal qualities. I sometimes eat a raw clove of garlic just as an aid for general gut health, in fact i will go do that right now.

Thx. I eat a lot of garlic. I even used it as supplement but then got informed about how fragile is alicin and now I don't do that any more. – majkinetor Nov 6 2011 at 9:46
Chewing raw garlic seems to be the best option when using for antibacterial application. You can swish milk/dairy in your mouth afterward to kill the burning but I wouldn't swallow because it will mess with the allicin you just swallowed, I think... – saiklón Nov 6 2011 at 20:29

Sunlight has some antibiotic/antifungal properties--hence you always find the gunky stuff in a dark, wet place.

Hanging clothes in the sunshine, basking (not burning) in the sun every chance you get have both helped me and I do hit citrus hard when I'm sick.

That could be a problem if you are really sick and depends on season, hence I megadose D3 (usually 10K IU) – majkinetor Nov 5 2011 at 16:55

:-)) Here in southern Nevada there's always abundant sunshine! But if you're too sick to go outside, then we're into the more direct things you're talking about. I was just talking life in general to help prevent problems. – Nance Nov 5 2011 at 17:05

Yes, I need more direct things. Like I sad, Rambo direct :P I know what to do in general, now I need to know how to nuke. – majkinetor Nov 5 2011 at 17:09

40,000 IUs Vitamin D3 for 1-2 days has knocked out any viral infection symptoms for me. This has been shared anecdotally from others on the MDA site. Apparently it can be used for systemic infections as well. Here's a link about the hypothesis behind it:

http://www.vitamindcouncil.org/news-archive/2006/is-vitamin-d-an-antibiotic/

Also anecdotal, but has worked for me many times (even before D megadosing) is 3 drops of 3% Hydrogen Peroxide in each ear, held for 30 sec-2 min 3 x/day.

Ah, I know about that one, but never did it. Will check it out if I remember. – majkinetor Nov 5 2011 at 19:16

Thx for the link and share of D3 dosage. I am not interested in viral infections tho... although I will up the dosage on the next one from 10K to 40K. Bacteria are the focus now. I doubt its very important if you have good nutrition - its probably the reason why I wasn't sick for 3 years but I got few minor 1-day-viruses. – majkinetor Nov 5 2011 at 19:18
D plays a role in bacterial infections as well. ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/18660668 – Dragonfly Nov 5 2011 at 19:54
Did you read the Vitamin D Council link? It's all about bacterial infections if you read far enough down... – Dragonfly Nov 5 2011 at 19:57
Dragonfly-do you split up the dosage or take all 40K at once? – Annie Nov 6 2011 at 2:04

12 years ago, I came down with chronic epididymitis, and after four courses of antibiotics over two years, it kept coming back. So, I figured that if the doctors were just going to keep throwing antibiotics at it, I may as well try this stuff I'd come across called colloidal silver. I bought one of the more sophisticated, current-controlled CS generators and started making my own CS at home. My epididymitis responded just as well to the CS as it did to the doxycycline and Cipro, and it cost a whole lot less than doctors and prescriptions. I used CS for several years before finally consulting with a medical intuitive, who put me on a crazy supplement regimen for six months that pretty much solved the problem for good. I no longer need to take CS regularly, but it's always there to nuke colds before they can get a hold.

And, don't bother responding to this with all sorts of scare stories about people turning blue from taking colloidal silver. Those people all ingested silver in highly concentrated form. Properly made CS is made with pure silver and steam distilled water ONLY and is 20 PPM or less. At that concentration you'd die of excess water consumption before you could ingest enough silver to cause argyria.

They sell coloidal silver here in pharmacy as a nose spray, mouth wash and to drink. And blue thing... thats cosmetical problem. – majkinetor Nov 6 2011 at 9:49

I recently got rid of h. Pylori using oregano oil, grapefruit seed oil and mastic gum in combination with Klaire Labs InterFase Plus biofilm buster on an empty stomach, followed by charcoal tablets and pectin 1 hour later. I rotated the botanicals over the course of a week.

you got rid of it in a week? or 1 week each and how long total therapy? – Bill Nov 6 2011 at 3:18

There is a bacteria that is naturally present in about 1 in 10,000 people and naturally inhabits the tongue and throat- it is unique in that it produces it's own beneficial anti biotic - a bacteriolysis inhibiting substance. (blis) for the lucky 1 in ten thousand of us they dont get any sore throats - at least not of bacterial origin. A scientist in New Zealand at the university of Otago identified a child with this superbacteria and developed a way of culturing it into a suspended(10,million/culture pill) so when the rest of us take antibiotics and knock everything out - you can recolinise with this superstrain as long as you suck on these pills within 24hrs of stopping the antibiotics. Once you have recolinised with this strain you are at much lower risk of getting strep throat/rheumatic fever and damaged mitral heart valve. This is what i call smart science - BLIS technology produce the pill and it's available in some countries via chemist/drug stores - also used to reduce bad breath.

Note this bacteria is natural to the throat not the gut you have to recolonise with gut specific bacteria for the gut -bifidus,acidophilous etc ( these are not superbacteria but also important non theless

I suffered from c. diff from December of '12 through March of '13. It's a beast of an infection. Steering way clear of it is one of my number one priorities in life. Probably for the rest of my life.

bob, how did you get rid of it? i just finished my first round of vancomycin for it and it was freaking hell. i hope it never comes back. – joanna Mar 15 at 23:21
