Hi,

I'm planning CKD diet - 6 day high fat/below 30 carbs and 1 day high carb. On high fat days I will eat lean meat (chicken breast&lean fish), some eggs, and add fat to meet my daily protein and fat ratio. This is easiest way for me to have control upon daily macros. Available and convenient fat sources are butter, EVOO and almonds. I want to make this boring and simple and choose one fat source (+fishoil) :). So far I have read many paleo and bodybuilding blogs and got only confused about fat sources. Some say lower pufa and high saturated fat, other say go high on MUFA and PUFA and lower saturated fat. So far I've found research claiming high saturated fat will make you insuling resistant which isn't good thing on CKD I think(http://jcem.endojournals.org/content/89/4/1641.full)...So should I base most of my fat intake on EVOO and almonds? THX

i think fat from food is best. if you are eating a "high fat" diet why are you using lean meat?

go for the salmon with a side of avocado! if you are going to use nuts try raw walnuts and brazil nuts mixed in there with the almonds. oh and don't heat the EVOO.

The study you linked is short term, its widely demonstrated that polyunsaturated fats heavily contribute to cancer and various degenerative diseases in the long term.

Stick to highly saturated animal based fats like butter, tallow, coconut oil etc. Minimize PUFAs to only the small amounts that come with your foods. Get rid of the fish oil, its toxic.
