After 6 weeks of paleo, apart from all the usual benefits my sense of taste and smell have improved incredibly. Simple foods like blueberries for instance are a taste sensation. Has anyone else experienced this?
Smell & taste are almost super human now lol - 90% dark chocolate is sweet to me, fresh strawberries are almost mind blowing. The smell of bacon cooking is so complex now.
You've possibly addressed a long-standing marginal zinc status, which is an important nutrient for preventing dysgeusia.
That'd probably take more than 6 weeks, so it may just be that removing the highly intense hyperpalatable foods for a while has recalibrated your tastes to the default settings.
Definitely, when I went Paleo the first time about 3 months ago I remember tasting the natural sweetness in fruits like apples, strawberries- everything! To me eating an apple was like having ice cream lol.
Yes! I'm 3 months in and eating things I wouldn't have touched with a ten foot pole months ago. I can't get enough sauerkraut, I literally eat it at every meal. I have a love for muscles, clams and game. I'm also more willing to try new things and I usually like them. Another big taste explosion for me is salt-- love it!!
