I used to be a programmer before I got into filmmaking, so the idea of a Paleo-related smartphone app has crossed my mind. ;-)
So what I'd like to see developed is an app where you input a rough quantity and the kind of the things you eat, and then it (roughly) cross checks that with the RDA for vitamins and minerals (including some that some people don't know about, like Q10 or PQQ). It could also calculate the grams of carbs or fat per a day's intake. I often find myself with deficiency in potassium, or magnesium at times. I'd like to use the app as a guide so I'd know both how to optimize my food intake, and which supplements to take each day (depending on what I've eaten in the last few days, and the expected life of each vitamin in the human body). Maybe it could even compensate to measure fewer vitamins/minerals for people with malabsorption or leaky gut.
Of course, these would be rough estimations, since almost no one actually weighs their food, cooking methods, and vitamins differ based on the genus/species of a given food, but the app might prove to be crucial and accurate-enough for some people to optimize, or to heal.
There are currently some calorie-calculators apps out there, but what I'm discussing here is much more complex and detailed. Here's hope...
