When I first came across this site (a few times here and there a while back) the whole "paleo" label seemed to be equated with a pretty extreme adherence to the particular VLC variant of paleo. As I've been reading more here I've seen many concessions to decidedly non-paleo foods (dairy probably most prominent). I've also been surprised by the number of decidedly non-VLC paleos here.

So I'm curious what percent you might put on your Paleo-ness, and how you might describe your version of Paleo.

Mods feel free to close/delete if there's some sort of similar poll post in this regard.

To answer my own question, I definitely exceed the Sisson 80% rule for his primal adherence (FWIW I agree with Dr. Dansinger of The Biggest Loser fame that 80% adherence to a diet is not sufficient for compliance-based results) rule. I'm rather surprised that I'm more true paleo than a lot of hackers on here! Ain't that a kicker? :D (Yes I'm well aware that a lot is still a minority so I'm not claiming some sort of paleo cred here peeps).

Currently a Peatatarian, haha, I eat the way Ray Peat & Lita Lee recommend. (Why do you think I am always sourcing Peat articles, I am well read on all his stuff). Trying to fix my low thyroid, hormonal imbalances, gut problems.

So I eat:

Beef & Lamb (Grassfed only) with Gelatin at every meal Eggs (soy feed free, freerange) Cheese & butter (I can't do the Peat milk thing = awful results) Fish -Esp Shrimp and Shellfish OJ and lots of it. Honey Coffee Coconut Oil Coconut Water Dark Chocolate Chips Raw Carrot Occasional well cooked potatoes/squashes Bell Peppers & Tomatoes

I shoot for 100grams protein a day. I don't have much of an appetite, so its hard. I cheat maybe 1-2x a year with a donut or two from my favorite store. But last time the results were so awful that I think the cheats are over.

I am unable to eat coconut or chocolate and I am allergic to nuts.

Mostly I eat egg yolks and meat/seafood. With some sweet potatoes, kale, spinach and berries thrown in on some nights with dinner. I try to eat only things with one ingredient.

with occasional dairy / home made ice cream.

I supplement with magnesium because I need to keep my cells running well. I avoid all oils except I sometimes eat EVOO.

I have no idea what kind of paleo I am, you guys can decide by reading below :P

The macronutrient ratio's for me are about 60/20/20 fats/protein/carbs at the moment., according to Fitday anyway. I used to be lower carb but I'm on the other end of the spectrum compared to other people and am a few kilo's underweight, so I decided id ease up on the low carb approach a bit.

What I don't eat:

Grains

Processed foods - easy to do

Dairy - Lactose intolerant, consequences of eating dairy are stomach pains, bloating and constipation

Sucrose (apart from the occasional dark chocolate 85% or higher)

What I eat:

Veggies- dark leafy greens are my major source of veggies. ( spinach and bok choi are the main ones atm)

Fruits- Pre-Paleo I was sugar addicted so I still have a bit of a sweet tooth, every now and then i'll have a small banana or a small apple, most days I have a bit of berries in my coconut milk smoothie.

Coconut products - Coconut oil, Coconut Cream/Milk, Coconut water occasionally.

Meats - Grass Fed beef, Organic Chicken, Wild canned salmon/sardines,

Eggs - just Free Range ( if no other choice) OR Organic and free range eggs by chickens that get given natural supplements.

Starches- Occasionally sweet potato and a small banana.

Nuts - Macadamias and Almonds

I forbid myself from cheating because I'm afraid that, just one bite will turn into something much greater. (except the dark chocolate which is kind of a cheat :P) Every time I want, "just a bite" of my father's natural yogurt sitting in the fridge, it ends up being much more, then that results in constipation :(
