Hey, I'm supplementing with Vitamin D and Magnesium. I take the Mg in the morning fasting, and the D with lunch. I can't take Mg in the evening as it has the opposite effect on me to most people, i.e. it keeps me awake. I don't want to take it with the Vitamin D cause I was worried about some antagonistic effects. (I may be way off base here)
So two questions: 1) Now I want to add zinc, and am wondering what would be the best time to supplement. I eat lunch and dinner only. 2) Could I just as well take the Mg during lunch, along with Vitamin D?
Just don't take the zinc when you're eating meat because it will block most of the uptake of iron and copper. I take zinc early in the morning on an empty stomach, but doing so causes nausea for Erin, so it may be a bad idea. Taking zinc with a snack between meals should be generally well tolerated.
I take ZMA before bedtime its a combo of bioavailable zinc and magnesium and the general recommendations are to take it on an empty stomach before bed.
Dunno if it'll keep you up though!
I use the ConcenTrace liquid Zinc supplement and have a hard time with the taste. After a few days of mixing it with my morning glass of H20, I had to stop and was only able to get back into the routine by mixing it with my evening glass of Natural Calm Mg.
I haven't had any problems with it, even when I take it on an empty stomach and haven't felt like it's affected my sleep.
I've read that other minerals like calcium, manganese, and copper can interfere with zinc absorption, as would phytate containing foods like nuts and seeds.
