I have convinced my friend to Paleo 1 month ago (after 1 month of Dukan). She is female, 34, non-smoker. Currently 167cm and 75kg and losing slowly but steadily. She doesn't consume huge amounts of butter and animal fat, but moderate. her only indulgence is 1-2 sundried plums or apricots, thats it. And she consumes a little bit of cheese and full fat yoghurt. And she has access to pasture fed beef and eggs.
After these details, let me write her test results:
LDL - 26.05.2010 > 133 16.02.2011 > 116, 27.05.2011 > 103, 16.11.2011 > 206.2
HDL - 26.05.2010 > 74, 16.02.2011 > 54, 27.05.2011 > 70, 16.11.2011 > 76
Trigliserid 26.05.2010 > 62, 16.02.2011 > 51, 27.05.2011 > 60, 16.11.2011 > 49
Total Cholesterol 26.05.2010 > 219, 16.02.2011 > 181, 27.05.2011 > 185, 16.11.2011 > 292
There is a good rise in HDL and the trigliserides went down, which are great. But the LDL doubled!
She panicked a bit at first saying should I eat less meat and more legumes. (at least doesnt even consider grains, at all) Now she is worried if it is a sign of something wrong and would like to find out what.
By the way, all the tests were done at the same lab except the one in May, 2011, which doesn' contradict with the other results.
