Once a while I'll go nuts for some dark chocolate, and lately I've been making a sandwhich out of this stuff right here:

I'm still working on taking dark chocolate from "staple" to "indulgence". Sigh. – gydle Nov 17 2011 at 10:07

Yes! Although more of a "chip and dip" thing than sandwich. I keep a jar and a bar in my desk at work. A couple grains of kosher or sea salt on top...now that's the sh*t. – Riveted Nov 17 2011 at 13:21

Oh...and I've also done the chocolate layered with coconut oil and almond butter. Like an angel crying on your tongue... – Riveted Nov 17 2011 at 13:25

I'm happy to say that I prefer less SAD chit as opposed to more natural desserts nowadays. The more I cut out sugars and carbs during the week, the less I crave high sugar sweets and candy. Subtly sweet desserts are a hell of a lot more satisfying now! I melted two pieces of Baker's Unsweetened chocolate over a cut up banana in the microwave; the dish was delicious. I also made a crustless pumpkin pie with canned pumpkin, coconut milk and eggs and it was so good. I added maybe half a tablespoon of honey and it was more than enough to sweeten the mixture up.

My favorite indulgence is homemade vanilla ice cream.

Please tell me that has coconut milk in it? Regardless post the recipe please; I'll do some dairy once in a while but my gut can't handle it sometimes. – San Diego Dude Nov 17 2011 at 7:50

Here are a number of recipes: paleohacks.com/questions/45846/… Mine is super simple: 2 cups cream, 2 cups half-n-half, 1 cup sugar and some vanilla extract (Maybe a Tbsp). I dont eat much of it though as carbs are usually under 50g per day. However I may be coming out of VLC soon... I would eat your treat instead but I can not tolerate chocolate or coconut.. – Eric Nov 17 2011 at 8:23

Totally! Dark chocolate and coconut oil rocks. It is like a paleo bounty bar. Not sure if you get them in the US or not.

Lindt 90% dark chocolate on its own

Chocolate mousse, made from Lindt 70%, Jersey double cream (from Waitrose, is grass-fed), free-range egg-yolk and egg-white (beaten to a snow and folded into the rest)

That Artisana stuff looks gorgeous, I shall try it with the 90%

Bit late visiting this post - but out of curiosity how do you know the cream from Waitrose is grass-fed? I'm trying to track down supermarket branded grass fed produce and am finding it difficult to know one way or the other! Any tips would be much appreciated, thanks! – bristolbecks Mar 2 2012 at 10:15

I like dark, dark chocolate dipped in some kind of nut butter. Not only is it a tasty treat, but it is ridiculously filling so I don't have to worry about going crazy with it. A few squares is plenty.

I'm simple!! I just love me some pecans, walnuts and almonds!! A handful (or more) of those and I'm set!!

My favorite is the occasional fruit salad I've mentioned in some other threads: 1 date, 1 fig, 5-6 fresh cranberries plus a banana or ripe pear. Dribble with lemon juice, sprinkle with cinnamon and stir. Yummy!

Hachez 88% Premier Cru - the whole 100 gram bar (3.5 oz) has 8 grams of sugar - no fake sweeteners, and no dairy (though is processed in a factory that has dairy so they do have a disclaimer about it). It is so amazing and just not sweet, but satiating! Just a few pieces does the trick when I need it!

Right now anything warm to drink...my favorite is peppermint herbal tea.

Besides tea, I'm testing out all the "paleo hot chocolates" and flavored coffees I can find! I haven't found a version that has the right heftiness for me...they're all a bit too watery tasting so far.

This weekend I'll be attempting a paleo pumpkin latte with actual pumpkin puree in it. I'm hoping it'll thicken the drink up and really satisfy. 8)

If you use coconut milk in the hot chocolate, with some unsweetened cocoa powder (and then add sweetener of choice if you want, I didn't fancy it) then it is so much thicker than hot choc with dairy milk. I also added some cinnamon to add an extra kick. Mmm. – bristolbecks Mar 2 2012 at 10:25

SweetRiot 85% organic dark chocolate is my favorite indulgence.. though lately I've been having a little less than 2oz daily with tea. I guess there could be worse things I could be consuming, no?

Cocoa nibs are pretty good. And while it sounds kind of bizarre, a good dill pickle is a treat for me, too.

Few spoons of fridged coconut milk (for thickness) + tsp of coconut oil + bunch of cocoa powder + tiny squirt of raw honey smooshed together in a bowl = pudding-like treat (with tiny bits of of non-mixed-in coconut oil) that satisfies my sweet/carb/chocolate cravings like nobody's business.

I makes mores with two squares of dark chocolate, coconut oil and peanut butter.

Watch for that peanut buttter, it's not even a real nut, it's considered a legume. That being said, I guess there's worse things that you could eat if you're going to indulge once in a while. – San Diego Dude Apr 20 2012 at 18:12

I like to get a huge 4 scoop sundae with hot fudge, marshmallow, fruit, and nuts. It's my indulgence, I only have it about once every three months. If I beat myself about eating something delicious that in the wrong run won't hamper my health than I have an eating disorder.

For me the indulgent part is usually the price tag since I'm normally pretty thrifty

$10 bars of Schaffen-Berger 99% chocolate- the other 1% is vanilla. Best unsweetened chocolate I've had so far. $20 Swordfish steaks from the fish shop down the street. better enjoy that while I can, because once I start thinking kids, I won't be enjoying it again for a few years! Ginormous Rib-eye steaks from the bar across the street- I don't know what they do to it, but they're incredible.
