I've been following a paleo diet for four months now (no grains, legumes, only 85% dark chocolate as my staple treat, cut out dairy recently, basically no fruit, grass fed meats, pastured eggs and poultry, lots of organic local vegetables, sweet potatoes and squash for starch), and I just got my blood results back.

TC 198 HDL 75 LDL 116 TGs 35

They've never looked better- a true testament to how a diet consisting of unprocessed foods that we were meant to eat does a body good. Anyone else have successes to share?

Congrats to you. I don't have the same numbers as you as a result of paleo. My LDL is really high, right along with HDL. My TGs are quite low as well. – Anonymous Chump Nov 18 2011 at 0:56
Do you eat dairy? It can contribute to a raise in your LDL. I wouldn't be overly concerned though if your HDL and TGs are on point. – Erica Nov 18 2011 at 1:13

What were your numbers before paleo? – cliff Nov 18 2011 at 1:39

Previously, as a vegetarian, my numbers were: TC 230, HDL 64, LDL 153, TGs 62. – Erica Nov 18 2011 at 2:05
Not a huge change IMO... really there are more important benefits than cholesterol labs from going paleo. By that logic paleo would suck for anybody who's LDL changes the opposite direction after going paleo. – Dean Nov 18 2011 at 2:28

Better bowel movement, reduced acne and reduced hair loss. Haven't taken my blood test as of yet.
