An old filling fell out today. There is an obvious hole in my tooth (one of my lower first molars, just back from the canines). It does not hurt - just feels a bit "weird" - like something that I'm used to is missing. According to the Weston A Price school of thought, cavities can be healed through nutrition, avoiding mineral depletors and glycerine (which apparently, prevents re-enameling). I use a non-glycerine tooth powder to brush and oil pull with coconut oil regularly. I eat a nutrient-dense, grain-free, paleo-style diet, including homemade bone broth several times per week, supplemented with magnesium, vitamin D, K-2 and a fermented CLO/butter oil combo.
Am I crazy to be considering NOT getting the cavity refilled, and waiting to see what will happen? If it ever truly begins to hurt, I would seek medical attention immediately.
By way of an update, in the end, I got the tooth refilled with a BPA-free composite. It makes sense that once the cavity has been drilled, there's no biological means of repair, and the hole just felt weird.
On a related note, since changing to a nutrient dense, traditional diet ~5 years ago, I HAVEN'T HAD A SINGLE NEW CAVITY! This may not sound terribly earth-shattering, but as a kid, I don't think I ever had a dentist appointment where I DIDN'T need a filling... even into adulthood, I continued to have trouble. I absolutely hated going to the dentist, because I knew I was going to have at least one cavity. Besides being a pain and expensive, it was just plain embarrassing! I never understood what I was doing wrong. I brushed like I was supposed to, I flossed most of the time and I stayed away from sugar. My younger brother, on the other hand, was the kid who ran his toothbrush under the faucet to trick mom and dad into thinking he brushed, yet mysteriously, never got a single cavity. He was a VERY picky eater - he loathed vegetables, and rarely ate much bread. Mom made him sit at the kitchen table for hours to get him to choke down three (3) peas sometimes, lol. He loved meat and cheese, though (with ketchup on them). His favorite meal was to make a "salad" out of pepperoni, cheese and ranch dressing. :) We even have an old photo of him after Mom caught him sitting on the floor of the kitchen eating margarine straight from the tub with a butter knife. (Slightly horrifying now, but the point is to illustrate that he preferred to eat fat and protein). I, on the other hand, dutifully ate my veggies and whole grains and always took care of my teeth. It never seemed fair that I had so many problems and he didn't, but now I think I get it. After experiencing it for myself, I'm firmly in the camp that believes it's ALL about the diet!
I am a dentist. I have no patients who are willing to eat paleo/lc, so I am my only test subject. I have molars whose fillings have fallen out and I've never had them replaced. Bacteria require a coating called a pellicle consisting of protein and glucose to form on teeth. Without glucose they cannot accumulate to any significant extent, and they cannot cause decay. If it's uncomfortable you can ask your dentist to smooth down the sharp areas. In time the exposed dentin will become hardened like a callous. I don't know about fruit and tubers since I don't eat them, but what you've revealed so far about your diet sounds like a winner for dental health.
Check this thread out Kim. According to this you can indeed heal them. I've healed a cracked tooth myself, though it was inadvertently.
I have regrown and healed a chipped tooth, healed several cavities, and kept all my wisdom teeth which were a huge issue before changing my oral routine and changing my diet. All naturally, no dentist. My dental health has improved greatly now that I stopped going to dentists and instead learned how to take care of my teeth.
What do I recommend for teeth?
I recommend eating lots of greens & superfoods/herbs to boost your mineral content. Sea vegetables are great for boosting mineral content as well. Include them daily.
I recommend ToothSoap, pure cold pressed neem oil and also the best magnesium oil ever (others may not give desired results) and Ormus Gold. If you can, do some fasting on green juices. Alternate brushing with toothsoap & neem oil. Spray the magnesium oil in your mouth and swish it around for a few minutes each day. You can also use the neem for 'oil pulling'. A tea you can drink to help build teeth is made from horsetail, nettle, hemp LEAF (not seed or oil but the actual leaf), cacao & maca.
1) Get yourself a natural bristle soft bristle toothbrush. They are actually cheaper then regular toothbrushes and they feel and work so much better. Just try going back to a plastic bristle brush after a week of using the natural ones and you will see what I mean!
2) Toss your toxic toothpaste. If it comes in a tube, even if it says natural, it's worthless and harmful. You are better off using pure neem oil even though it tastes um.. "strong", trust me you get used to it. You can use it at night before bed, and use a toothsoap or gum joy oil in the morning for better smelling breath. They taste and smell really good. Neem just has some amazing properties you would greatly benefit from.
You can order pure neem oil (no other ingredients) online, or see if it's in your local health store. Whole Foods Market carries it.
3) Use a water pik every evening before bed (you can add a few drops of neem oil to the lukewarm water).
4) Stay away from processed foods and drinks. Sure you can have some here and there, but overall if you are not supplying your body with the nutrients it needs, you just can't experience health and wellbeing. There is just no way around this. Proper nutrition, clean water, exercise, sunlight, fresh air, positive attitude, and your expectation, will heal just about anything! So eat real food. All the animals on earth eat natural food- nothing cooked or processed or full of chemicals. They do not get cancer, allergies, cavities and all these civilized diseases we now have.. but the animals we domesticate and feed unnatural diets to, now get the same diseases we do. Eat more raw and natural foods and eat less things in packaging that are cheap and heavily marketed to the masses. Just this step alone will cause a huge shift and heal the rest.. however you have to want it, believe it and do it.
beside this there is other unnbeleaveble testemonies of teeth healing. Let your dreams be your healing. Always consider what is the best for you. I have done ramiels prrotocol and got sucess. Later i changed it away from animal products and im still adjusting. I often hear greens greens greens. eat grass like a cow. whatever.

This mean what animal live and what plants grow there. Fall is the season where people gather foods and store for the winter season.
