Hello.
I would like to know which tests I shound run in a hospital, if I wanted to gather as much information as possible about causes and issues connected with my gut problems? My symptomps have changed since my disease developed 10 months ago, some subsided/dissappered, some didn't. In general after adapting many paleo ideas ( mostly from Perfect Health Diet, Chriss Kesser and lately I have been experiencing with GAPS ) I got better, but I stil have problems. My symptomps can be related to many well known gut diseases/issues like leaky gut, IBS, IBD or parasites. At the moment mostly I have constipation as well as bloating and fatigue after eating something.
I am considering doing:
- colonoscopy
- fecal tests
- blood
- allergy/food intolerances ( btw is there any merit in this in my case? )
any other suggestions? And also is there a way to check the gut permeability?
Thank you in advance for any help.

This doesn't speak to tests you can get, but while you're dealing with health care professionals you could try home remedies (if you haven't already.) Are you able to tolerate any fermented foods? What types/type of probiotics have you tried? My very cranky gut has become very happy now that I've been off sugar for 7 months and use 2 probiotics: home-made water kefir and full-fat yogurt. It actually took me awhile to accustom myself to having a pain-free digestive process, because I missed all the sensations I'd always had. |

Genova Diagnostics is a lab with regarded-as-reliable tests (as far as I've seen the consensus on various online nutrition forums): http://www.gdx.net/ If you click on Tests on their menu, you can search their dozens of tests by disease, symptom, wellness goal, biomarker, etc. They do have a test for gut permeability, as well as plenty of other specialized diagnostics. Note that a physician who has registered with Genova will need to prescribe these tests -- you can search for such physicians in your area. Good luck! :) |
