I suspect my husband has a thyroid issue going on. He has been gaining weight rapidly, depressed, exhausted, and other things.

I made an appointment for him for next week to have his thyroid considered. I am wondering if there is any specific blood work he should be requesting?

He is about 40 lbs over weight, 33, Not eating Paleo aside from the Paleo options I have available here at the house (His dinner, at least, is usually Paleo).

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Rapid weight gain - ask for diabetes blood work too! – Efaitch Nov 21 2011 at 18:50

Based on my research a couple weeks ago:

For Thyroid: *TSH *TT4 *TT3 *TT3 uptake

I think I got that off of Chris Kresser's website

Also check out Mary Shomon http://thyroid.about.com/bio/Mary-Shomon-350.htm

Read before you go to the doc.
