I was just wondering if it needs to be shaken before using. A family member believes it is thicker on the bottom of the bottle and needs to be shaken.

I used to the Carlson fish oils but now I use Green Pastures Fermented Cod Liver Oil and it does seem thicker or the flavoring a lot stronger at the bottom!

I wonder if shaking it would increase the oxidation rate because you are introducing air bubbles. – Dangph Jun 1 at 1:59

My bottle doesn't say anything about shaking. It also says the oil is emulsified, which I believe means it wouldn't separate. I haven't notice any difference between top and bottom. BTW, I usually take mine by stirring it into my bowl of bone broth. There's no fishy taste, just a rich "base flavor" added.

Nance, do you drink bone broth daily? – DanielleO812 Jun 1 at 2:23

I would shake it just to make sure the (lemon) flavor is mixed evenly. I didn't shake it and when it got down to the last couple of teaspoons, it tasted nasty...like fish!!! Hahahaha. =P Lesson learned!

I use SFH -- bottle says "shake well."

I use emulsified fermented cod liver oil, and it has a thick goopy layer at the bottom, so I give it a good shake.

The emulsified stuff is so thick, shaking doesn't seem to do anything to it. I stir up the bottom with a spoon.
