Could we suffer from malnutrition and how do we avoid it? I have seen posts of folks not eating enough variety. What are your hacks to ensure proper nutrition in your diet? What are your tips for others?

"Land & Sea" is essential, IMO. Sufficient Vitamin D from sun exposure and/or supplements to keep everything functioning properly. Magnesium from bottled water/epsom salts or supplements (since we can't seem to get enough from food.) I eat free-range/organic/wild/grass-fed. Meat, Eggs, Dairy, Seafood (incl. oysters & seaweed), Offal, Gelatin, Bone broth, Colorful veggies. Also, 1/2 of good nutrition is making sure we are absorbing what we are eating, so fermented foods daily, incl kombucha, kefir, sauerkraut, fermented pickles, etc... |

If you're eating real whole nutrient dense foods I don't think there's a huge possibility of malnutrition. Meat Offal Eggs Tubers I've never heard of malnutrition from lack of twinkies. :-) |

If you're on a paleo diet and you're past the 30-60 days it takes to heal leaky gut and are eating all the right things including organ meats, pastured eggs, wild caught fish, fermented foods, greens, etc. and supplementing for things we can't get from food, such as magnesium, no worries. If you're on a Standard American Diet, for sure, you could be overweight and are absolutely suffering from malnutrition. |

Eating a decent variety of whole foods, I think it would be pretty hard to be truly deficient in any nutrient. Especially eating paleo, you are not consuming the damaging and interfering foods that cause deficiencies themselves. I think a bigger problem with paleo diets often is nutrient imbalances. Nutrient ratios matter (not just PUFA ratio), and some of them more fixed and static diets some folks eat open them up to nutrient imbalances. |
