Does anyone know the average blood pressure of ultra endurance athletes? Someone like Scott Jurek, Killian Jornet, or even Lance Armstrong?

I had my blood pressure taken today during a dental exam and Was able to check the records for a pre-paleo test to compare. Here is what I got:

Jan 2011- 134/72. Paleo since around May. November 2011- 109/63.

I do not know a lot about BP but I assume lower is better. Is a 109/63 good? Can this drop be attributed to diet? Is BP a measure of cardiovascular strength or endurance?

Sorry for the rambling post/questions.

Thanks!

Mine is around 100/60. Yes, this way of eating can lower blood pressure. – Annie Nov 30 2011 at 0:23

I don't have access to the full paper, but this may be helpful...

I can't wait to hear about the world-class athletes!

I can tell you that my grandson is a cross-country high school athlete. His pulse is in the 50s and his blood pressure is extremely low by normal standards. Almost scary.

That's great to have a pulse in the 50s, Lance Armstrong's resting HR is reported to have been 32-34 bpm! – Jeff Nov 30 2011 at 3:10
