I got my lipid panel results back and my 3 year experiment is complete but I need your help.
first off I want to say thank you for reading this. for the past 3 years I have been doing a lot of reading and following people who I think are great such as Mark Sisson, Gary Taubes, Robb Wolf & Chris Kresser just to name a few. I am 38 years old 6'4" 205 lbs
I'll get to the point, back in 2008 I decided to lose body fat and gain muscle by going on a low fat diet which included cutting back on the good fats, lots of lean protein, lots of old fashion oatmeal in the morning, whole wheat bread, whole wheat pasta, fruits and vegetables & we had low fat dairy whenever I wanted. I average a ratio of 40/40/20 2000 to 2500 calories a day and worked out 4 days a week (mostly strength training) I lost weight and felt good but I wasn't putting on that muscle like I wanted to so I decided to change things up.
For a little over a year I leaned more towards paleo (except for pre & post workout meals) my meals now are like 40/20/40 avoided wheat (no gluten) lots of good fats, Coconut oil, no possessed oils, lots of Whole eggs, bacon, avocado, unheated olive oil to name a few. Grass fed meat when I can afford lots & lots of greens, sweet potatos, moderate fruit and on occasion had vanilla Haggen Daz. I maintained my body fat and packed on more muscle during this time...I currently feel great & strong.
NOW I NEED SOME OPINIONS BECAUSE I'M CONFUSED!! Should I continue with the high fat or was I better off on my low fat diet from a health stand point??
Here are my results, please let me know what you think.
