Just wanted to let everyone out there with PCOS know there is hope- - I'm not on any meds (Metformin gave me a really bad reaction, though I know it works miracles for others.) I was getting periods totally eratically - 65 days, 40 days, then 45 days - now, for the past 3 months I've been getting it every 34 days like clockwork! It's all because of Paleo ;) Has anyone else had similar success?

That's great! I'm curious about your carb levels, because PCOS is related to insulin resistance. – Ambimorph Dec 3 2011 at 0:31
Hmm. I guess this was just a hit and run. Too bad. – Ambimorph Dec 10 2011 at 16:43
Sorry I forgot to check back! I dont know how many carbs I have...every meal I try to balance vegetables, meat and fat. So in the morning I have eggs with spinach and butter. Lunch I have meat with salad, dinner fish with veggies. Sometimes I have a Living Fuel shake or Rice protein shake instead of a meal. So I dont have carb #s exactly. Now I'm trying quiting coffee and will try drinking some ACV with water every day, as that seems to have good results for people (i go on earthclinic forum and check on PCOS) :) Goood luck! – KC Jan 4 2012 at 16:15

Yes, I have for a while now. I was able to stop taking birth control pills about nine months ago and they came about every thirty days, and were a lot lighter and easier to deal with than the hormone-induce periods I'd had. I was also able to stop taking Metformin after bloodwork over the summer showed I was no longer pre-diabetic.

Thank you for posting this. I think that a lot of people are under the impression that synthetic hormones are the only way to control PCOS and that's there's little hope to control it naturally.

Nice! Yes diet has changed all. I wish there was something else...I cheated a little over the holidays - had some full fat milk bc there was no almond milk in my aunt's house, a scoop of ice cream and breadcrumb covered chicken - just from that gained 10 pounds. I'm interested to see if I get my period today - it's day 34. Also may have celiac so we'll see. – KC Jan 4 2012 at 16:16
But congrats on your experience, hopefully we can give people hope! – KC Jan 4 2012 at 16:18

For those of you that answered, I'm a bit curious how long after beginning paleo did your periods start coming back?

Hi Lulu, I'm sorry for the late response, I just remembered this site today! Ok I strated eating paleo august 7 of last year. on august 10th i got my period, and it had been a 46 day cycle. then every month after that period i got my period every 34 days. so basically it regulated pretty much within the month! if you are still having problems, check earthclinic.com, look up ailments: PCOS - a lot of people say having bragg's apple cider vinegar (i dont know if the brand makes a difference, users are not even allowed to enter brand name on that site) daily, they got their period right away... – KC Sep 25 at 13:10
