Ok,so i'm new to this.Peanuts are worse than almonds because they have a higher amounts of lectins?Even roasted peanuts? Can you tell I don't want to give up my beloved peanut butter? No seriously I am trying to better understand the difference.
Peanuts contain lectins which usually cause gut inflammation, among other things. They're also high in Omega-6 fatty acids.
From this article:
"Lectins do their damage when they hook up with sugar molecules found in your intestine or in the blood. When bound to the sugar molecule they render it inactive and useless. Even worse, since they are designed for plants, they easily become foreign invaders in your body. The union of the lectin with the sugar molecule compromises the human immune system; because the lectin compound is perceived as a foreigner.
This unrecognized alien now becomes an enemy to launch attack against. This causes an immune response to a false enemy. The human immune system attacks this lectin compound and in the process causes chronic inflammation."

Dude, I love(d) peanut butter too but you after a while, you learn to live without things you don't need.
If I may suggest -- while it's not an ideal, having cashew butter and macadamia nut butter completely eased my transition away from peanut butter (and it was made even easier because when you don't eat bread, you're not tempted to make peanut-butter sandwiches!!!!)
Well peanuts are actually a legume, almonds are paleo safe. However they are high on omega 6 and if you don't have the right balance of omega 3/6 you set up inflammation of the body.
Almonds or almond butter, almonds in whatever form should be moderated. Peanut's in my honest opinion are pretty crud.
Almond butter has been roasted (oxidation) also. Not something you need in any great quantity. The oxidation of meat is probably enough as long as you eat plenty of veg to neutralize free radicals.
