Hi!

Well, I'm one or two kilo's underweight ( used to be more underweight), and wish to gain weight. Sometimes I get upset about this and actually over eat. Last night I did and i felt bloated and my stomach hurt a bit. The next morning after 10 minutes of waking up, I felt a horrible hunger pang. I had to eat, right there, right now. So i ate:

100g Organic cultured natural yogourt 50g ( i know D:) of macadamia nuts a small handfull of cherries 130g coconut cream (dense-ish) with a handfull of frozen raspberries, blended. a bit of fetta cheese.

and I stopped myself and after about 20 minutes the hunger has sort-of subsided.

Is this my bodies natural way of wanting me to gain weight, or does it have to do with something out of balance because I stuffed my face the night before?

As a binge eater, I always said, "The more I eat the more I need to eat."

Although you are not a binge eater, you may have triggered a similar metabolic reaction. Even if this was healthy food and you are underweight, you wouldn't normally be so hungry first thing after a huge meal the night before unless you have been on a starvation diet--in which case you probably would be very hungry still.

So, this is just a guess but I'm thinking your GI tract may be saying ouch and it feels like hunger. If you return to you normal pattern hopefully it won't last long.

This makes perfect sence thank-you!. My GI tract is definitely saying ouch!. I feel spaced out and sensitive to light for some reason now, weird. – CoconutChick Dec 5 2011 at 3:16

If I eat a lot before bed, then I almost always feel it the next morning. But since I tried fasting I learnt that it's not hunger I'm feeling, just an empty stomach - possibly excess acid after the big meal which isn't needed any more. So now if I feel like that in the morning, I take it as a signal that I should probably consider skipping breakfast because I'm definitely not hungry. So I'd say it's something out of balance.

Stick to eating good things (and a good balance/variety) and don't worry too much about if you 'should' be eating.
