In the comments for http://paleohacks.com/questions/82462/does-anyone-else-sneak-a-look-at-other-peoples-shopping someone suggested a secret handshake or a badge or button that would let other people know you were paleo. I thought it was a great idea, so I made one. What do you think? What could be improved about my first draft?

Check it out:

UPDATE: I'm going for very simple, recognizable icons, but I like many of the suggestions people have put into the answers. Here's my iconified arrowhead:

And here's my recomposite hunter-gatherer, with a bit more shape up top.

Should maybe be an auroch in place of the cow? – Anonymous Chump Dec 11 2011 at 0:53

Are they carrots, I thought they were tiny islands with palm trees. – AlohaSpeck Dec 11 2011 at 13:22

Just found the sign-language "P", which could even be used across a crowded room!

Though it is rude to point at strangers, and using this as a symbol may be confusing as I believe the "Society for Underwater Lobster-Elephants" are already using it.

Signed P

A few choices, some clearly worse than others:

Oh, my, my, my! Thanks for a good laugh. – Nance Dec 11 2011 at 0:22
I think Sisson's "grok" is a great symbol, but I guess it's more a representation of primal than paleo! – tylerw Dec 11 2011 at 0:28

I LOVE the arrowhead with the P. I think it should just be that, inside the circle, without the "Paleo Approved" around it. – Futureboy Dec 11 2011 at 0:57

@Anonymous, you should've used the picture of the car instead of KH. We'd all have known who you meant. :-)) – Nance Dec 11 2011 at 1:19

I literally lol'd when I scrolled past Kurt Harris. – April S. Dec 11 2011 at 5:06

I think you need to make those carrots look a bit more vicious. At that point in time, they would be wild, right?

Aren't wild carrots actually smaller than modern domesticated breeds? Also, they could be daikon radishes. – air_hadoken Dec 11 2011 at 1:33
Nah, they are carrots. And they look pretty lame. – Paleo2.0 Dec 11 2011 at 3:37

Looks like tomato halves but I'm not positive, found it on the Google. – Nutritionator Dec 11 2011 at 19:32

Paleo shopping bag!

Also, many paleo bloggers sell shirts. Fitbomb's shirts are my favorite (http://nomnompaleo.spreadshirt.com/) but you can find more if you just search "paleo shirts" in google.

Oh my, that's spectacular. First time I've seen KGH with spinach on the brain. – Stabby Dec 12 2011 at 0:29

Ha! I saw a man at WF the other week and wanted to try a secret handshake! He was LGN I bet! But alas no handshake had been ritualized. Don't know that I'd wear a button but I might want a few green shopping bags with Paleo on one side and a pic of Dr. Harris on the other!

it would have to be an over-the-shoulder bag to facilitate gathering – sage_ Dec 11 2011 at 2:47
Ha ha. Cute...gathering. But then I'd have to choose which side of the bag to show! And that would be Harris' face of course. But I think a Paleo emblem would be more recognizable. So now I'll be looking for Ps and arrowheads at WF subconciously, right? Maybe we can just take permanent markers and mark existing green bags with Paleo emblems. That would be really green! – Sandra Brigham Dec 11 2011 at 13:25
You have inspired me to computer doodle on my messenger bag to create a paleo shopping bag. – maryeeclarkisouthunting Dec 11 2011 at 22:56

Apparently, these guys already have some shirts/sweaters! http://primalpalate.spreadshirt.com/
I personally love the "I don't eat crap" design.

I really would want to have paleo jewelry, and i think the symbols should be different for men and women. I would rather prefer a feminine image of a cavegirl on me.A quick googleing didn't bring up any beautiful figures/images, only porstar-like girls. :/

I'm not into jewelry but I might like to wear an arrowhead necklace! Neat idea. Are you an entrepreneur? If so, launch this excellent idea! – Sandra Brigham Dec 11 2011 at 13:27
Sadly i am a nobody :D Just don't see myself wearing a paleo t-shirt, just to try to find somebody "of my kind" lol But i could wear a bracelet everyday..and we could even come up with smth everybody could make themselves etc – Lily Dec 11 2011 at 18:54
I think it's more likely that we'd be sporting it on our canvas shopping bags than our T-shirts. Well, that's my vision... – air_hadoken Dec 12 2011 at 5:37
