I've always liked including fruits in my diet, but even here in sunny Florida where it's a chilly 65F (lol) my desire for fruit is now almost nil.

Aside from some dried fruits like figs and berries, I have no inclination to eat them at all.

We've only had a handful of cold fronts which have been able to make their way down from the north, and I wonder if PH'ers living in Northern climes have seen a natural drop in their fruit consumption since the temps have dropped?

My hunger has definitely increased with the colder weather, 12 degrees today!, and desire for fresh fruit has remained the same. Consumption is probably a bit less as seasonal fruits such as apples, pears, etc. are not as desirable to me as a summertime bounty of berries. Don't get me wrong, I love what's in right now but don't really want to eat 3 apples a day. Now.. a quart of berries is another story.. – jesuisjuba - paleorepublic.com Dec 18 2011 at 19:33

Not at all! For some reason I started craving lemons last month, but apparently I'm allergic to them.

I haven't noticed less interest in fruit, although I'm more interested in heavier fruits like bananas. In the summer I hunger for berries and melons.

I've definitely noticed less interest in salads. I want a salad every day in warm weather, but now I have times when I go a day or two without. At that, though, I start wanting the crunch of celery again.

I'm one of those weird people who isn't hungry for starch, but in cold weather season I start to get interested in rutabagas and celery roots, etc. And I'm even hungrier than usual for fatty meat.

I crave warm things when I'm cold.

Fruit, raw at least, isn't warm.

But, I do notice hunger goes up in the cold. I recall a lot of research saying this is usually the case as well.

So I crave lots of warm calorie dense things in the winter. Curry is a favorite.

i've had strong cravings for dried figs and dates...and have been eating them often. i find that in winter i want heavy, calorie dense foods..and i'm also hungrier. i think that can be said for just about everyone though - i mean who REALLY wants a cold salad in freezing weather?

Well it's actually cold here, and I'm all for the fruit I can get.

I'm in Maine, and I started not to crave starches and fruits back in... September, I think? It's on my food journal, for a week I was eating just meat and eggs, and some greens here and there only when I noticed I had not been eating any veggies.

A few days later, someone started a thread about it on MDA, so I'm not alone :-)

But I always knew this anyway. For example, every Summer since I was little, I eat very, very little during the Summer. /shrug/

In Winter I crave creamy and fatty things. Also nuts (specially chestnuts) but that might be nostalgia more than anything :-)

I'm in Norway, I have noticed that in myself. When it started getting cold I stopped buying fruit, I really did not notice it until I just read this... I have had a few oranges and celmentines but that is it. Interesting!
