After a sugary, gluten-filled cheat what are the best things to eat and drink after to recover faster and feel better.

I think the best recovery option is a nice rest for your GI tract in the form of a fast. I'm being relatively naughty right now--eating more and eating a few neolithic things--so I already have a plan for a fast day followed by a meat free day before resuming my normal menus.

I'm not punishing myself, though. My fast days include coffee with cream and a smidgen of honey plus a bottle of water kefir in the afternoon. The no-meat day has plenty of veggies and a little fruit.

If your appetite is gone, nothing.

If you are hungry, drink some bone broth/gelatin.

a big ass salad helps my arthrits go away quickly. it could be the four ounces of olive oil but who knows, im just going to keep eating the salad when i hurt by accidently eating wheat.

You and me, Evzone! My hip and my thumb made it very clear that those tacos I ate last night had wheat in the shells. :-)) – Nance Dec 23 2011 at 3:59

Home made bone broth & kombucha/water kefir - I drink only these for a couple days and I feel right as rain again.

Pickle juice. * mouth waters *

Coconut water.

Kombucha, with a 'bit' more sugar than usual.

after i fall off the wagon, i know that my blood sugar is all messed up. so, instead of fasting, which i know will be difficult, i start my day with a no or low carb breakfast...like some eggs and bacon or a veggie omelet. this starts to stabilize my blood sugar and i won't get hungry. from that breakfast on it's actually very easy for me to go back to full on paleo!

Water and then more water. Even though the carbs tend to cause water retention and feeling bloated, more water is your friend, not less.

I went to cheat town last night when I indulged for the first time in 2 years since switching over into this lifestyle. I'm talking: ooey, gooey homemade coconut flour chocolate chip cookies hugging a nice dollop of Edy's fun flavors cookie dough ice cream. Today I woke up with 0 appetite but by 1-2 I decided to just put something into my body to get me through (2-3 cups of steamed broccoli, spaghetti squash - plain, and about 1 1/3 plain cooked chicken breast) In addition I've been drinking water like I'm a fish out of my tank and guzzling to hold on. Definitely feeling stomach achy, and bloated in my face, and in particular my lower abdomen and thigh regions. A bit nervous that my small frame will retain this junk in my body and result in weight gain. Is there any hope through science/biology that this will not happen??
