Cooked some kale with double-smoked bacon as part of dinner for my parents last night. I hadn't been eating kale for about a week before this, and it's official, kale is horrible for me. Which saddens me because I love it so much, and it's so good for you. I was up most of the night with painful trapped gas, woke up on Xmas morning feeling exhausted, grumpy and headachy. Grrr, kale.
Is it because it's just more fibre than my IBS-y gut can tolerate, or is it a brassica like cabbage and cauliflower? Is it a FODMAP?
