Have you gotten fairly drunk and eaten a bunch of crap, then felt better in the morning? Before paleo, a hangover was devistating, now it seems as though while my body is detoxifiying the alcohol, I am riding myself of other crap as well? The stress of the alcohol to my body puges itself of other toxins in the healing process? I am far more resilient to hangovers now and feel better after a day. Is this jusrt me?

Me too, though I feel like it might be a result of being in/out of ketosis often enough that my liver is relatively used to being the one driving (as it is the morning after a boozy binge, since you're still metabolizing the booze through your liver). Also booze can be quite the diuretic, so you're detoxing in the sense of literally flushing out your system (though alcohol is, obviously, it's own potent toxin), and flushing out your system is aces when you've just eaten a load of crap food, esp. refined carbs etc. |

Nope, I've got the same effect. Well as long as I avoid beer. Whiskeys are ok, even though they were made from grains, the distillation process removes all the gluten. Usually I go for red wine, tequila, vodka, single malt scotch. I've not eaten crap while drunk, well, at least to say I've stuck to somewhat more paleo friendly bar foods like chicken wings, and burger patties, though they're absolutely CAFO, but the key was to avoid the bread or breaded items. Even had french fries, though if they had sweet potato fries, I always go for that. |

Yes, I feel fine in the mornings when I drink now. It also doesnt affect my quality of sleep like it used to to get drunk |

I was seriously just about to post the exact opposite. Now when I have a couple drinks, I feel absolutely terrible the next day. Last night I split a bottle of red wine with the Mrs., then had a small gin with ice - while eating some Xmas candy we had. I couldn't sleep, my stomach kept rumbling and my sinuses hurt when I woke up. Pre-Paleo 2 years ago (more Primal Blueprint, but whatever) I could at least handle 2-4 drinks without any hangover. It could be that I'm just not a college aged student anymore. |
