I finally got around to hearing Jimmy Moore's podcast with Dr. B G/Grace. (OK, so I am a little behind.) Great podcast! http://livinlavidalowcarb.com/blog/the-llvlc-show-episode-520-jeff-oconnells-sugar-nation-and-animal-pharm-blogger-dr-b-g/12456 The discussion got me thinking about the ways to fix endocrine disruption. I have read that heavy metals can disrupt the HPA axis function and arsenic poisoning has been linked to diabetes. Does doing a leptin reset repair this? Are heavy metals such as arsenic even a contributor to leptin resistance or adrenal problems?

Happy New Year The Loon!!! Thanks for your kind words! Metals have synergistic toxicity so even at sublethal, low doses, endocrine disruption can occur... it does not necessarily have to be a ton of arsenic but let's say some has a bit of mercury from their moms amalgams and their own accululated, then they get incidental arsenic over time ( contamined rice, air, environmental exposures, seafood, etc)... then a stressful incident occurs and the gut is momentarily impaired (financial strss, excesive crossfit, IF'ing, giardia, couple of antibiotic courses, etc), then normal levels of gut elimination of metals is halted. the gut does perform this and its an important role of healthy flora... anyway, yes, and yes. I think metals contribute for certain, and i positively agree that adrenal and leptin resets help with metal endocrine disruption, to a limited extent. (from my observations and personal experiences) for susceptible individuals, if the neolethal toxin is not removed and eventually lowered to 'acceptable' levels (which might be dynamic and evolving), then I think the toxin(s) will be major obstacles to fully resetting both adrenals and leptin (and equally important the gut-axis). This certainly is true for all NADs, no? Neolethal factors like gluten, plastics/BPA, pesticides/herbicides, seed n6 oils, processed carbs including HFCS (fructose), lines of Flavor enhanxers/coke... SAME for heavy metals... (they also affect our gut flora too like a lot of NADs) HPA and Pb, As in storks... not pretty... adrenal fatigue with synergistic metal toxicities it appears... http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/m/pubmed/17035132/?i=3&from=arsenic,%20hypothalamus chris at robbwolf.com addresses some of the endocrine disruption, basically athletes are f*cked on body fat composition from widespread endocrine disruption theynwere not apparently aware of...http://robbwolf.com/2011/12/29/hormones-disrupted-decadent-depraved/ I havent looked at the data extensively but metals are endocrine disruptors by acting as xenoestrogens; metallomestrogens like other estrogens in the enviro are potent ubiquitious growth messengers across both the plant and animal kingdoms... Many of our enzymes employ metals And functions would change. Tissues and DNA are altered... Dont hesitate to contact me... I think we're birds of a feather in MANY ways... hee hee |
