Im going to soon have to spend weeks on end in oklahoma for work. What are some good paleo food choices out there? Im guessing that I wont have access to a kitchen so it'll be eating out and grabbing items from a grocery store. Ive already scoped out some chiptoles out there.

If you're in Tulsa there are a couple of paleo catering businesses that offer entrees for around $10. If you had a fridge and microwave, you could order a few a week. Other ideas... Salad bar/cafe at Whole Foods? Akins is a local store similar to Whole Foods.

That sounds awesome. Do you have the name of any of these businesses ? – Geoff Jan 5 2012 at 17:19
Both are on Facebook. One as "Dish" also has website dishbym.com. The other on FB as "Lunch Ladies". They typically post their menus for the week on Sunday, you contact them with your order, then they arrange delivery. They deliver to my CrossFit gym. I've ordered awesome food from Lunch Ladies: breakfast hash, meatloaf, spaghetti squash and meatballs. So nice to have it on hand in the fridge ready to beat up after a long day at work! – Browneyedgirl Jan 8 2012 at 21:34

The salad bar at Jason's Deli is good. Lots of steak and (sweet)potatoes places, depending on how much you want to spend. Texas Road House is a good cheap one. Which city?

I wouldn't say there are any that are geared toward Paleo specfically. Go to any Oklahoma restaurant (with a small handful of exceptions) and you will find beef. BBQ joints are generally a cross between Texas and KC with some Memphis thrown in here and there. You will also have the typical chain restaurants and fast food available (e.g. Chipotle). There is a Whole Foods in each of OKC and Tulsa if you are able to do some shopping. Sunflower Farmers Market is also a good option in OKC (not sure if there are any in Tulsa).

Eat lots of pulled pork in the BBQ joints around here. I usually get cole slaw for a side and you have a pretty healthy meal. Just go lite on the sauce, it tends to be really sweet. If you get near Davis OK they have the best BBQ I ever ate and I've been in Oklahoma all my life. It's called Smokin'Joe's BBQ and RV park. I'm serious.

Post here what part of the state you will be in. Maybe some Okies could get together and eat.

Ironically the owner of Big Truck Tacos and Mutts does Paleo.
