iherb.com sells 54 oz nutiva. The best. – sophie Jan 4 2012 at 16:46

I'd check iherb and vitacost. I think it varies who has the best price. Right now vitacost has a sale. – Pete Jan 4 2012 at 17:01
For the 54oz Nutiva, Vitamin Shoppe has it for $24.41 with free shipping kicking in at $25. Vitacost has it for $21.97, but the free shipping does not kick in until $50. – Paleo2.0 Jan 4 2012 at 18:58

I buy everything from Amazon. I buy Artisana's coconut butter to eat plain (right out of the jar) and Tropical Traditions coconut oil for cooking.

I setup a subscription from Amazon, so the hard part was figuring out how much I use in a two month period and setting it up so they ship me the right amount. :)

Tropical Traditions has the best organic, unrefined cold-pressed coconut oil I've found, and if you go to their website instead of Amazon, you can get it for half off (BOGO), you just have to check the website (usually on sale about once a month) or subscribe to their news letter.

does tropical traditions have a weird taste or is that what coconut oil is supposed to taste like – Anthony Pierre Jan 26 2012 at 20:11
I've never noticed any weird taste... what kind of taste is it? Honestly, it should taste like coconut, maybe a little milder than eating coconut pulp but also richer... – jjtitus Jan 27 2012 at 19:31

A lot of good suggestions here. But something additional to remember. Make sure you can stand the taste of whatever brand you're buying BEFORE you buy that 60 gallon barrel from them... :)

I buy Nutiva online from Amazon. I buy the largest (54 oz?) they sell there. Great prices!

yeah, with Amazon prime and subscribe and save, I get a 2-pack of the 54oz containers, so it comes out to $20.75 / 54oz. – JoeBranca at paleoplusone.com Jan 4 2012 at 19:03

Vitacost.com has some great prices on organic coconut oil and butter, but Amazon has pretty good bulk prices, I always check both. Vitacost.com has a surprising amount of other good organic items like almond flour too.

I get my CLO, Coconut Oil, some tea (Yogi Bedtime FTW), and most of my vitamins from vitacost, just because... – Joshua Jan 26 2012 at 20:38
They also have great prices on Life Extension brand products which rock. – Jackie Jan 26 2012 at 21:22

I buy mine from Tropical Traditions as well -- along with my pasture-fed butter and other things, when I can't get them locally... and my soy-free eggs as well!

This is something of an aside, but get yourself one of these, pour in coconut oil, throw in fridge, and you have premade servings of the stuff.

As far as coconut oil, I've tried virgin oil from Jarrow and Nature's Way, both tasting equally good.

I get mine from Mountain rose herbs for $32 a gallon

you can also get 5 gallon for $128

I live in the same state and end up driving by so I don't even pay shipping
