Is whole, non-homogenized, creamline milk a good recovery drink? I know many people say drink chocolate milk post workout, and I was wondering if just an organic, grassfed, creamline milk would work? I'm trying to lean out, and I know milk is good for building muscle (which is completely opposite of leaning out) but would a glass of milk PWO really be that detrimental to fat loss? I am not lactose intolerant, and really enjoy dairy...so would it really be THAT BIG of a deal to include a little daily milk?

I think it all depends on how much you are trying to lean out. If you still have ways to go, I would not go with the milk. Milk is great for pure gaining, but if you are trying to lean out sticking to strictly carbs w/ protein (and minimizing fat) is a pretty much standard. – pbo Jan 4 2012 at 21:40

Skim Milk and protein powder, who needs fat in their post workout drink? Not you, not anyone. Will one glass hurt your progress? Maybe not, but it will be another opportunity missed to ingest something that will help with your progress.

I agree, but be prepared for a storm of haters for skim milk. Inb4 they all mention the 1 study that showed better results from whole milk. – conciliator Jan 4 2012 at 21:36

It depends on your goals and how hard you're training. Someone training really hard and wanting to strictly gain, whole milk all the way.

Someone wanting to lean out (and still benefit from PWO nutrition), skip the milk all together. Drinking skim milk, even though would be a "better option" from a pure-leaning out protocol, why consume it?

Like someone else said, stick with protein/carbs...

i think it's a great post workout drink especially if you can find the good stuff. as long as you keep it in the post workout meal and don't overdo it i don't see any reason why it would slow down your leaning out process, in fact it may even help it. give it a shot and let us know how it goes.
