Ever since I introduced dairy (raw, grass-fed) into my diet, 6 months ago I have accumulated cellulite. I NEVER had cellulite before the dairy. Everything else in my life has remained constant (i.e. daily workouts of resistance training, walking, deep tissue massages). I am hard as a rock with muscle and only f24! I adore raw cream in my coffee but it seems after this year of doing nothing but add on cellulite I must retire dairy. I am very sad, but also interested. As we know toxins are stored in the fat tissue, and cellulite is overburdened fat tissue/toxin storage, could this simply be more proof dairy is not appropriatly utilized?
There is no direct link from any hormone to cellulite, unfortunately. No studies have provided the necessary linkage. Still speculative.
There is also some speculation that cellulite is an inflammatory response. So it is possible that dairy causes an inflammatory response in you resulting in cellulite rather than acne, rosacea or bloating, for example.
So two options
monitor your water intake and increase if you're insufficient (you can do this by drinking room temp or slightly warm water for 3 days. You'll have a clear picture of your thirst by then)
clear out all the dairy for 3 weeks (minimum). Take pictures weekly and compare.
spa services like lymphatic drainage, or a vigorous massage. These don't actually "cure" cellulite, but they're known to improve the appearance of your skin for few days after. this can get expensive ....
Other suspects as to the cause of cellulite - aging, dehydration, breakdown of connective tissue (due to weight gain or loss), genetic predisposition. Nobody really knows why some get it and some don't.
Dairy triggers insulin in most. Fat storage, water retention, weight. Different people react differently. I'd say by your response, it's not best for you. I would avoid it with that response. I do well on heavy cream and butter, even cheese, but milk sets off my blood sugar.
Get a testing stick at the pharmacy if you want to know how your personal blood sugar is affected with different foods
I noticed if I eat a lot of diary, then I tend to want to eat more in general. I think it's probably an insulin effect. I'd definitely nix the diary and see if that helps. Of course, there could be other things like you getting older. Is it natural for females to have rock hard bodies? I have seen some rather trim natives in some regions of the world, but I've seen in others that the women do tend to have some natural curves and appropriately distributed body fat. It may be totally natural for many women to have a bit of fat and current cultural guidelines may be working against that. What looks better according to current cultural guidelines may not be what is actually healthier for each individual.
I have noticed that I have less cellulite now that I have increased fats such as the cream, butter, and coconut oil. I have a lot of cream in my coffee every morning, like about 1/2cup times 2 cups of coffee. Sometimes I have 1/2 & 1/2 instead of the heavy cream, depends on whats on hand. I have had no weight gain and I really don't "exercise" that much; swim one hour a week. I am walking a a lot doing my housework, yard work etc. Seems to work for me.
Rubbish. If you're gaining weight fat its from carbs not from heavy cream. Muscle loss comes from over training as well. Running or long sessions of aerobics cause muscle loss not heavy cream. I train swimmers on heavy cream to bring body fat down well below 10%
I noticed that my cellulite went away when I removed sugar from my diet. I had not been eating dairy for about six months before going fully paleo. yet, I still had cellulite. This makes me believe that it was caused by excessive carbs and sugar. Also, if you are having a lot of heavy cream, it may be excessive calories.
