I have a CF competition in a couple of weeks. What foods are best to recover with but still portable? I already made note to bring hard boiled eggs, homemade trail mix with dried berries for after the WODs, mashed yams, cooked ground beef with anti-inflammatory spices, coconut water...what else is good to bring?

I always pack a variety of snacks for competition. All Pro Science recovery powder for after longer metcons is great. Otherwise fruit, jerky, trail mix, veggies, canned tuna or salmon, fresh coconut and coconut water etc. I'd way rather have too much than not enough because the excess can always be taken home. |

Best advice I ever heard in this was "Don't Change shit on game day" No one can really answer this for you, I mean they might give you some ideas but you are going to need to practice what works. The hardest part is getting the food in and keeping it in. That is different for everyone I can eat just about anything and run myself into the ground and be fine. I forced my body to adapt to that. Last time I did fight gone bad I downed a plate of chicken and worked out right after. It really comes down to how many WOD's you have to do, how long of a break do you have between. What do you eat now, Pre and Post workout? What the Wods are, a 1RM max shoulder Press is not going to effect your ability to digest the same as a 20min AMRAP. If you workout fasted, thats great but you need to start eating before you workout to see how you will feel. Fasting and working out in the morning works great for some people than they try to eat and work out and their body is just not used to it. Sorry if I made things more confusing for you. One thing I can say is a sweet potato and banana mashed together taste great and goes down easy and quick. Hope this has giving you some insight, good luck. |

Sweet potatoes (mashed) travel well, as do sardines. Both are great for recovery. |
