So, I've heard a lot about paleo eating clearing up acne. But I'm curious, does anyone have any suggestions for homemade concoctions to treat acne with? Any sorts of body scrubs or masks would be greatly appreciated!
If there are any foods I should limit my intake of, or any I should eat a lot of in order to clear my skin, please share :)
My dermatologist told me that the breakouts I had on my back and shoulders were from the same fungus that causes dandruff. She suggested washing my back and shoulders with Head & Shoulders or Selsun Blue. If you want to go more natural, you could try grapefruit seed extract or tea tree oil (both of which you need to dilute) because they both have pretty powerful anti-fungal qualities. If you haven't already, try cutting out wheat and dairy, both of which can cause skin issues and may be contributing factors.
A friend of mine used Dr. Perricone's skin protocol and another got off grains and dairy and his skin cleared right up. My brother has used lecithin, Omega's (high dose, and I'd stay away form fish and stick to krill, Udo's) and greens. It's DEFINITELY something going on inside, although external treatments do work well. I'm a hydro colon therapist and have noticed a vast improvement in some clients with acne. (Usually my adolescent clients) Wheat and dairy are the biggest culprits to avoid first. Gluten can stay in your system for up to 6 months, so sticking to it 100% is essential. Good luck! Are you on birth control? A friend of mine has tried several different BCs that have made her break out on her back (even the copper IUD) before finding one that didn't. Did the breakouts start after you changed something about your life (diet, skincare routine, BC, stress levels, etc)?
