I've read some people eat one or two large meals a day. I've started eating one meal a day as I become more satiated. My question is, what is your meal?
During my "fasting" period from day to day I will eat coconut oil (2-3 tbsp.), occasionally coffee with cream if I'm studying and need a pick me up, but wont eat an actual meal until after I Crossfit and go to work. This meal is usually large (tonight was spaghetti squash cooked in butter and coconut oil with an organic tomato sauce and LOTS of shrimp, organic creamline whole milk and water to drink) and dessert was a little raw whole milk yogurt with almond butter and raw honey...is this(or something along the lines of this) an acceptable meal if youre eating once(maybe twice) a day? I Crossfit 5-6 days a week and am on my feet a lot because of my job and walking around campus. I am going to start the Progenex protein shakes soon after Crossfit, as I can feel my recovery lacking a bit as my intensity/weight goes up.
What is your one meal? Thoughts, comments, suggestions, etc are good...
Right now I eat two meals a day and sometimes one snack.
I always have a cup of coffee in the morning and mix full-fat coconut milk or pastured cream into it along with a drop or two of real vanilla, lots of cinnamon, and a little unsweetened cocoa powder.
My first "meal" is usually 4-5 eggs with some other protein like bacon or tuna and maybe some cheese, salsa, or sauteed greens.
If I don't feel like eggs, I may have a large veggie smoothie with protein powder and fat from almond or coconut butter.
For dinner I'll have ~8oz of beef, pork, or chicken eaten on top of a large green salad (romaine lettuce, carrots, cucumber, olives, bacon, eggs, onions, etc.) topped with sour cream and mustard as "dressing". I may also include some cooked vegetables or vegetable-based soup and depending on how I feel, a cup or two of sweet potato with butter, white rice, or white potatoes.
When I get home, I may have a "snack" of coconut butter/oil mixed with something or a piece of unsweetened chocolate with pastured cream.

I basically aim to stuff as much protein in as I can. Generally I will just nosh and nosh until I feel I've hit all my goals. This means 10ish oz of meat (Last night it was 2 small steaks and 2 hardboiled eggs). Then I MUST have vegetables, so I'll have some cooked veggies and salad. I try to get some probiotics in but it depends on the night, sometimes I'm full and don't want it. If there are yummy carbs around, I'll eat them because I feel fasting makes them more excusable. And I try to eat some kerrygold or coconut oil for either the vitamin K or immune benefits.
So my basic recipe is lots of meat + veggies + salad + good fats + occasional probiotics/starches
I don't do one meal everyday. I do it probably 5/6 days a week because I do think I'm missing out on a lot of nutrition due to the low volume of veg and food in general. My "load up" days are all about loading up on nutrient-dense foods and resetting leptin. One meal a day for me is about fat loss, and I will not be continuing it purposefully once I get where I want to be.
3 courses: 1) salad with oil & vinegar, usually leaf lettuce/celery/cuke; 2) main course, bone broth/meat/cooked veggies; 3) fruit, usually one grapefruit but occasionally fruit salad (1 date, 1 fig, 5-6 cranberries plus 1 piece sweet fruit such as a banana or pear.
Beverages: home-carbonated water with wedge of lime; 1/4 c. cream, 2 tsp honey (in coffee)
Depending on errands and other activities, this meal may be in mid-morning, afternoon or evening. Since I'm in fasting mode, there's usually no urgent hunger.
I'm more in the 4 to 5 meal range but if I had to choose one meal this is it:
2/3 can of Trader Joe's Wild Caught Salmon, a few cups of herb salad, 1/2 avocado, lemon juice, 3 tbs mayo, paprika, cayenne pepper and a ton of garlic powder.
If I only eat one meal it lasts about 3-4 hours and I eat a ton....Usually at least a pound of meat along with plenty of salad, maybe throw in some eggs and nuts, goat cheese, some sauteed veggies. That sounds about right for my one meal. Really for me it doesn't matter if I eat 1 or 2 meals I'm going to ingest about the same caloric values.
