I recently added ZMA to my daily supplement regime since I don't eat a ton of meat and don't get allot of zinc along with balancing my calcium/magnesium ratio. My multi had 15mg of elemental zinc and ZMA has 30mg of elemental zinc. I've read that there is an optimal zinc copper ratio and one should supplement with copper if using ZMA. My multi has 1.5mg of copper but I'm not sure if this is enough. Does anyone know the correct ratio when supplementing zinc/copper and what dose of copper would be best when supplementing with 45mg of zinc daily?

I've also heard that copper although essential in the body is a estrogen promoting mineral and too much can mess with your thyroid so I'm hesitant in supplementing with it. Any info on that would be great as well.

Thanks in advance.

I haven't had a chance to listen yet but this looks very relevant: chriskresser.com/… – Nance Jan 13 2012 at 0:56
Okay, Chris says "... So, the ideal ratio between these two, if copper is in the numerator and zinc is in the denominator, would be 0.7 to 1, which means anywhere from 70% as much copper as zinc to even amounts of each." – Nance Jan 13 2012 at 1:07

He was referring to blood test ratios not supplement ratios. Thanks anyways. – Rufio Jan 13 2012 at 1:39
