From my experience and from what I read...

I would vote a mixture of these 3 things currently:

Butter - fat and energy!

Niacin (Vitamin B3) - calming/relaxing effect, it dilates your blood vessels and you become warm. It can help immensely with your anxiety and depression. If you want to know more about it, read here:

http://www.foodmatters.tv/_webapp_417125/How_to_Take_Niacin_-Vitamin_B3-_for_Depression_and_Anxiety

Raw Organic Cacao Powder - chocolate makes me happy, and overall it has many benefits

Weird list, I know. :-)

What's YOUR "limitless" pill?

It can be one thing or a combination of things.

For those of you who don't know what I'm talking about, watch the movie, "Limitless", and you'll understand.

Maybe you should replace the fat with sugar. The reason b3 works is because it forces your body to burn glucose. – cliff Jan 13 2012 at 14:51

+1 for butter. Cliff, you must really be addicted to sugar. It seems to be your answer for everything... – Cody Jan 13 2012 at 17:57
Why would you need anything to force the body to burn glucose? I thought the body was dead keen to burn glucose any day of the week. Isn't that the idea? – PrimalDanny Jan 26 2012 at 20:40

+1 for a question involving the movie Limitless. I have been searching for a "Limitless" food and/or supplement for some time now and my list includes all 3 of the foods/supplements you mention, although I take niacin indirectly in the form of Picamilon (a nootropic combination of niacin and GABA that penetrates the BBB).

I can never forget the day I reintroduced butter into my diet after going without it for years because I believed the lies that it was unhealthy - an hour or so after I consumed it with a meal it felt like everything made sense to me and everything was right with the world. I read articles about health and nutrition (my passion) for hours straight without a break that evening. For proof that butter improves mental functioning, see Seth Roberts' experience with it improving his ability to do arithmetic (others have reported similar effects, including myself, although not statistically like Roberts did): http://blog.sethroberts.net/2011/11/25/butter-and-arithmetic-how-much-butter/

100% cacao seems to improve my mood more than anything besides butter, and it seems to make my thinking clearer as well, although I am not sure if that translates to increased efficiency.

Within a short time after consuming any of the above 3 foods/supplements, it feels like a light is turned on in my brain, and I experience a warm fuzzy feeling in my brain, most likely from the increased blood flow (Picamilon and cacao are both known to increase blood flow to the brain, although I am not sure if butter does).

Also a product I tried a few times because my brother used it with success called SeaCure deserves mention here. Too bad it gave me so much mental energy that I couldn't fall asleep anymore so I had to stop taking it.

It is weird answering a question that I could swear was asked by me, but great question nonetheless.

No foods make me feel limitless, but other things may. Like, for example...coitus.

As far as an extended feeling of being limitless, being around a group of positive people or taking an amphetamine would fit the bill. (Note: not advocating illicit use of amphetamines at all)

Nootropics never worked for me in that way, and alcohol only makes me feel limitless with just the right amount.

Maybe you need to invent coitus in a pill. Coitus in a "box" is already on the market – Aravind Jan 13 2012 at 14:16

Care to elaborate? Why this particular selection/combination? – mmartian Jan 13 2012 at 21:36

@Bill1102Inf Yes. A ketogenic diet is supposed to enhance cognition, especially short-term memory and to have a mood-stabilizing effect. 5-HTP is an amino acid is a mild anti-depressive for my (mild) seasonal depression. Some people say it helps to control appetite. Piracetam is supposed to improve focus, and has of the least known adverse effects of all nootropics. Modafinil suppresses sleepyness (though of course is no substitute for sleep). I use it instead of the high dosages of caffeine that I would require for the same effect, with fewer sie effects (caffeine makes me jittery). – fullmoon Jan 16 2012 at 20:33
I just saw your reply, thank you VERY much for sharing. – Bill1102inf Jan 26 2012 at 2:49

Coffee + bananas.

Eggs for breakfast. I get sick of them from time to time and then I realize I'm having a harder time with sugar cravings and resisting temptation and staying focused and just about everything else. Then I go back to eggs for breakfast and everything gets good again.

Alpha Brain from Onnit Labs (onnit.com) is a nootropic forumula I've been using. It has helped increase my ability to concentrate and has elevated my mood in general. Best way to describe it is that it has a subtle yet remarkable effect in improving brain function overall. "10less" will get you a discount on any Alpha Brain order from their website (code should work on their other supplements too). Onnit offers a money-back guarantee so give it a try if you're curious. Cheers.
