does anyone know the absolute cheapest place to order a thyroid panel? i would prefer it have ft3 but i can settle for just tsh, as my tsh has been rather high. thanks!

I don't understand your rationale for skipping free T3 and free T4. TSH alone is never an adequate test.

That's a good reason! I'm sorry if my reply came off as glib--I'm not insensitive to that predicament. When I first took personal control of my thyroid treatment, I had to spring for my labs (and meds) because I couldn't get my (insurance-compensated) doctor to run the right tests or prescribe the right Rx. On the other hand, paying for a TSH-only test might just be a waste of money, since it won't reveal a cause or suggest an appropriate treatment. At best, it will reveal that something is wrong--but what? Can you save up for a few weeks and get the full test? It might be worth it. – Christopher Gagnon Jan 19 2012 at 1:39
