When I first started Paleo, I remember reading a blog of a couple that had both lost a lot of weight on Paleo, I'm thinking around 100 pounds each? I don't remember the details or the site, but I remember thinking if I could ever get my brother and sister-in-law to eat Paleo, I would want them to read it as encouragement. Well, now they are on board and trying! They have a lot of weight to lose and it seems like most blogs of people who go Paleo only have 10-40 pounds to lose. They have a lot more than that, but are making much better choices and weight is falling off. I would love them to see stories of people who persevered and stayed Paleo following weight loss. Do you know the site I'm talking about or have any suggestions of others that would be encouraging to them? Thanks!

I don't talk about personal stories/myself on my blog that much, but I do talk a lot about paleo and weight loss. As of Xmas, I had lost 130 lbs, still have some to go! – Beth-WeightMaven Jan 19 2012 at 17:45

Yep, that's us! We lost 210+lbs in a little over a year - mine the most significant at 135 (stacy). We have an "About Us" section on the site that'll give details on how Paleo changed the health of each of us. Thanks for asking!

I'm looking forward to your book btw! – Rogue Nutritionist Jan 19 2012 at 23:59
Congrats! This is great motivation. I'm at 52lbs lost since Feb '12. I'd like another 40 to 50. It's still coming off (slower now, but still coming off). – MotoMoto May 19 2012 at 5:27

Paleo Parents (http://paleoparents.com/) fits that description. Their stories (and their kids', too) are very inspiring.

Here's a link to the success stories at Mark Sisson's site. There are several who have lost 100+ pounds.

Hey! I've lost over 200lbs doin' the paleo thang... mostly pretty low-carb, some intermittent fasting, low-sugar, and walking/hiking for exercise! Time Out Chicago featured me a bit a few weeks ago ... you can send them this link! http://timeoutchicago.com/shopping-style/sports-fitness/15061307/fitness-paleo-diet

Wow, congrats! You look great - and I'm sure you feel it! If there's one medical research test I wish Paleo folk had in their pocket it's the STFU @ saturated fats one! Otherwise a great write-up (and I even think the writer's response to the nutritionist was nicely phrased). Cool! – Stacy and Matt Jan 19 2012 at 17:58
Thank you! I feel incredible. Of course, the struggle continues, but I'm learning about myself, physically and mentally, everyday. The "nutritionist" was there to provide pros and cons to a few other diets mentioned in that issue, but the comments of fellow paleo folk below it are where it's at! – Anthony D'Amato Jan 19 2012 at 18:12
Wow, wonderful transformation! I have a lot of very overweight family in Chicago, and am all too familiar with the food culture...keep up the great work! – Rogue Nutritionist Jan 19 2012 at 23:55
Thanks!! I lost most of my weight in NJ, and moved here a year ago. You can imagine all of the temptation around, especially in all of my social scenes. It's not easy to maintain, but it's not impossible. It's been good to remind myself that, of course, no one is perfect! – Anthony D'Amato Jan 21 2012 at 18:26

HCG stands for human chorionic gonadotropin hormone. It is best known as the pregnancy hormone that is produced by the embryo soon after conception. When HCG is produced during pregnancy, its role is to help support the ovary and maintain the normal production of progesterone. For this reason, HCG is commonly used for fertility and hormonal problems. Recently, however, researchers have found that HCG can actually help the body burn fat and can be used to aid in weight loss when combined with a low calorie diet and moderate exercise. The HCG used for weight loss is at a much lower level than those levels experienced during pregnancy and as a result, can be used safely and effectively by both men and women looking to get their weight under control.
