I've always kind of noticed patterns in my eating, however this being the third time Ive tracked my food (and I must say my eating is spot on...under 2000 for fat loss, protein between 120 and 150 g, fat between 90 and 120 g carbs between 40 and 70 daily) Ive come to notice my eating goes in cycles...Monday I eat the least and as the week progresses I slowly begin to eat more and more and more (I started this week at about 1400 cals/2 meals, and today Im ending at just about 1900/3 meals + snacks). This happens all time....also I start the week without cravings and usually by the end of the week I want ice cream/chocolate (I refuse to give in!).

Have you noticed that you seem to have recurring eating cycles? What do you think this has to do with (stress? hormones? is it mental?).

is your 'cycle' always 7 days and always following the calendar week (mon to sun)? if so i would say its related to something or things in your weekly schedule; work, training, stress, meetings, social, etc If the cycle does not match up with the days of the week & your body is healthy & functioning/working well, then its probably just your body 'requesting' more calories as/when needed – daz Jan 20 2012 at 4:22
its usually every 7 days...idk if it has to do with my schedule, i havent worked out as much this week and im not feeling hungrier or anything by the end of the week (other than cravings for ice cream, but i wanna say thats a social thing). ive just noticed that my calories go up...even on the days where i eat 2 meals, an earlier week meals are less calorie and my later week are a little more calorically dense. maybe my body makes me unknowingly do it – Hoover Jan 20 2012 at 19:02

my guess would be that you're under-eating for your activity level and your body tries to make up for it by getting you to eat more. i'd also attribute the cravings to that. the only cycle i noticed for myself is that i tend to undereat on days where i exercise heavily, and then make up for it in the day after.

Sort of.

For a long while, I ate pretty much the same every day. I'd have one large meal--a whole grapefruit, a large salad and a large portion of beef with cooked vegetables or bone broth stew.

Then, a couple months ago, I started eating some home-made yogurt with fruit every day at mid-morning. For a short while I still had the same main meal I'd been eating before.

Now, though, I seem to be developing a more cyclical appetite. I eat the yogurt with fruit every day, but on alternate days all I have later is the large salad (leaf lettuce, cuke, celery) one day and the meat/veggies or stew the next. It seems that with the addition of yogurt I don't need my main meal to be quite so large.

I'm a little surprised to be content with no meat on alternate days but that's what's happening. I'm considering whether I should leave my eating pattern as is or make a much smaller salad and reduce my meat/stew pattern so I return to eating every day.
