We all futz around with our diets trying to find what works best with our bodies. There are SO many various "branches" of Paleo (Primal, Whole30, Lacto-Paleo, PHD, Ancestral, etc). Is there a quiz or test or assessment anywhere that could help someone figure out what could possibly lead someone to their "branch" that would hopefully lead them to greater success?
For example, youd take the quiz asking about your energy, sleep, stress, diet, activity, etc. and then when youre done it matches you to one of the various versions of Paleo, and then continues to give you a rundown of that style and what to include daily/eat moderate/ignore completely (starches, fruit, nuts, dairy, etc.)?
If not...could we recruit someone of guru status to make one?
To answer your question directly, Chris Kresser now offers something like that and I expect there are others.
That actually sounds more complicated than what I did. In my first month or two, I emphasized fatty meat because that was what I most needed after a career of binges on boxed/bagged things. I included some vegetables and fruits all along and as time passed--and I got much healthier--I found myself eating a little less meat and even more vegetables.
With the exception of the cup or so of home-made yogurt I eat many mornings my overall menus are less rich now--bone broth stews instead of slow-fried steaks every day. I eat a lot of both cooked and raw vegetables every day and 2-5 pieces of fruit.
I really believe if you dial yourself back to just fatty meat for a few days you'll suddenly find yourself hungry for certain vegetables and fruits and other meats and you'll find yourself shifting your diet over time as become acclimated and your needs change normally.
Otherwise, I think any one of these plans will work for most anyone for a while and then you'll find yourself making personalized adjustments just as if you'd built your own as I described. There are no wrong choices, but it would probably help to pick one that sounds the best to you and then see what happens.
