Ok describing smells is hard to do but yeah thats what it makes me think of. I grew up with goats/sheep and other various creatures. I know how they smell on a warm day - its not unpleasant or anything.. just very animally?
So I don't know if its just me imagining things because of the conversation I had with the vendor or what. It doesn't smell rancid just.. like stressed out musky animal?? No sweet salty bacony smell. Just. what I imagine would be pigs on a warm day if you were to pet one.
So I was psyched to find ends and pieces for 3$. The vendor was a little weird.. but hey.. a lot of them are not entirely extroverts. Thats ok I don't mind a gruff farmer. But I dunno for some reason it occurred to me while looking at their sign touting free range organic blah blah pork that anyone could put that on their sign. Not sure why it didn't occur to me before then but something about them... Anyway. So they gave me their card and said that they aren't there every week. They said that people email them all the time and even have "given stuff back to them" using the info. She seemed to catch herself after saying it. I remember thinking after that comment after the purchase.
So yeah I don't know if I am just psyching myself out or anything but the bacon does not smell like bacon. It doesn't taste like bacon to me but bf says its fine. Great ill let him finish it off.
Now I know that sometimes farmers market meat doesnt taste like Im used to. Ive had uh..weird tasting free range grass fed beef before. So is it just normal to taste like a barnyard smells??/
