I may have. Time will tell. I was diagnosed hypothyroid in 2006 due to TSH in the 40's. Doc put me on Synthroid and adjusted dose over next couple years til my TSH was 1. The dose ended at 150mcg I think (blue pill). During those years and beyond, I was also put on meds for high bp, statins, gout, and developed pre-diabetes, and gained considerable weight (got up to 250lbs--I'm 46yo/m/5'11). Discovered Primal Blueprint and Paleo Jan 2011. By May I was down to 185lbs and off all meds except synthroid. Doc said, it's for life. I didn't believe him. I quit taking Synthroid in May and had my TSH tested in Sep. In May it was .55, and in Sep it was 2.5. In December it was 3.5. I was getting cold feet. I did some research. 2 weeks ago I started taking Kelp tablets, approx 600mcg per day. My feet have stopped feeling cold and my weight which was stalled for several months has started moving down again. I have been eating 1-3 brazil nuts a day for selenium and taking 3-4 kelp tabs a day. My Vit D is at 69ng/ml thanks to 10,000IU/day supplement. Will restest TSH in May, but I think I am good now. |

I think I have. I don't have current labs (last tested about a year ago, I remember it was a little under 2, sorry I don't have the labs in front of me), but I'm feeling okay, and I didn't feel okay when my TSH was over 3.0. I was on Armour for almost 4 years, taking 2.5 grains at the highest, and tapering down to 1/2 grain, at which point I started to forget to take them and got retested without having had in my system for a little over 3 weeks. Diet made a big difference for me, and the tapering started out of necessity when I dropped wheat (I felt over stimulated, and my labs came back with a really low TSH, I had apparently crossed the line to hyperthyroid). I was still a little nervous that things could go in the wrong direction again when we officially ended my prescription, so my ND put me on Spectra 303-T by Integrative Therapeutics (it has calcium, iodine, zinc, copper, l-tyrosine, and thyroxine-free thyroid). I've been taking that, and at times add a little extra seaweed. The way I figured out I had the thyroid issue to begin with was when I started to supplement with l-tyrosine per the Diet Cure protocol, and was suddenly able to get things done during the day. |

I'm no expert, but I'm working on it. I'm following Dr. Kharrazian's protocol from his book Why Do I Still Have Thyroid Symptoms When My Lab Tests Are Normal? I've only been at it for a few months now - my lab numbers are improving, but unfortunately, I'm still symptomatic. One day at a time. Hazy Jane over at Mark's Daily Apple also has Hashi/hypo and is also following Dr. Kharrazian's protocol. This thread from the MDA forum helped me a lot. She's managing her symptoms with supplements and is not on thyroid meds at all - I hope to follow in her footsteps someday! |

The Perfect Health Diet book has information regarding this. Also see: http://perfecthealthdiet.com/?cat=49 EDIT: In the book see "A note on Hypothyroidism". Paleo + selenium, iodine, vit D, mag, vit A (if needed). Lots of details in the book though... |

Well, I was never officially diagnosed as hypothyroid. My free T3 was at the bottom of the allowable range, and TSH was a little high. (Doc thought both were fine.) I have always been cold, have always had a low pulse rate and low energy levels. Quitting a wheat centric diet five years ago helped some, as did adding saturated fat. For the past year, I have been PHDing, with all the supplements including iodine (I've worked up to 50 mg, and will probably stay there for a while.) This winter I am cozy warm, my resting pulse is up (from mid 50s to mid 60s) and I have way more energy. |

RepairVite diet has helped me so much my gratitude is boundless. For 20 years I had been sliding downhill, trying so hard to be so healthy, but feeling as if I were slowly dying.
I had so so so many autoimmune problems, just to name a few: Chronic Fatigue, Restless Leg, Fibromyalgia, multiple chronic allergies, and other problems, and was told I needed Carpel Tunnel surgery ASAP. I couldn't sleep, and was getting angry patches of skin on my legs. After a diagnosis of Hashimotos, then followed by Graves Eye Disease (my eyes began to protrude) I was desperate.
An acupuncturist suggested I try the RepairVite program. It sounded pretty tough, but I was willing to do ANYTHING. |
