I went on a Ray Peat binge last august and have since read his books, his newsletters (the ones after I signed up) and listened to many many hours of podcasts (if not all of em). I have filtered his work to pick out his recommendations for my particular health issues. (and had a lengthy consult with him -which was so confusing). I am still a bit lost in the woods. I follow Danny Roddy's blog to help me make sense of it. So far I do the diet as he recommends, except the liquid milk (but do add some heavy cream in my coffee) as well as: gelatin, aspirin, glandular thyroid, pregnenolone, progesterone (I think its his own making -I get it from Lita Lee). I have recently went back and listened for dosing on Vitamin A and Vitamin K2. So I might start that in a few weeks. Among my many digestive symptoms I have had for YEARS, I no longer have any inflammation (I used to not even be able to be hugged) and no constipation. However some of my SIBO issues (bloating, burping, etc) are still in full force. I am hoping as my low -thyroid gets into gear, this will diminish. Naturally I eat the raw carrot (and cooked bamboo shoots), and have been since August, but it hasn't effected it so far. I think Ray was surprised to hear this. I have also found out that too much progesterone gives me massive migraines. (Even though I have saliva tested low for this). I like a lot of the stuff that Ray Peat has to say, but I take it with a grain of salt (sea salt, white) and keep trying to learn and understand better. I am not a total Ray Peat junkie as I sound -I am very up to date as to the rest of the nutritional world and wouldn't hesitate to change if something else caught my eye. |

Don't forget the excellent podcasts from EastWestHealing. http://www.blogtalkradio.com/eastwesthealing I've learned not to fear the fructose, that having warmth in my extremities is a damn good sign, and that things I previously considered problematic like milk and sugar (I thought they triggered my acne for a long time) really aren't when used in proper context and in a nutrient rich diet with minimal PUFA. Oh, and I've learned that once again having the libido of my younger self is very, very fun. |

I have added more gelatin to my diet after reading some of Ray Peat's writings. |
