Okay not to ask whether this is Paleo (LOL :). Can anyone attest to the practicality and precision of this product??!! Marketing hype or really useful?

http://www.shewee.ca/ Shewee - the revolutionary device that is changing women’s lives.

No more crossed legs or uncomfortable squatting. Maintain your privacy and banish bare bottoms! Stand up at public toilets to avoid unhygienic seats and smelly port-a-cabins. Hike/climb/ski/jog off the beaten track, miles from the nearest toilet. Travel the world with the comfort of home in your pocket. Stand to pee - the ultimate in personal hygiene.

No personal experience but a friend has tried it. It caused giggles amongst her friends but it does work. – henny Jan 27 2012 at 16:24
Ditto Anna's comment. My friend had a kidney condition such that she could not go but very short outings without needing to use a public restroom. Saved many accidents and potential health hazzards for her with nasty toilets. – Evelyn aka CarbSane Jan 27 2012 at 17:58

yes i have seen them years ago, if it were a good idea it would be main stream, pardon the pun.

I like the pun, ha. I think they might be main stream if it was easier to talk about without people thinking you are weird. Pee sticks, menstrual cups, and eating raw meat...all things I wish I could openly talk about with people without them thinking I am a nutbag. – Practicing Paleo Jan 28 2012 at 19:34
Agreed. Menstrual cups seem to be the biggest DUH to me, simple obvious cheap, and yet they're totally taboo. Heaven forbid a woman stand to pee! – syrahna Jan 25 at 2:27

Yup, I bought a 3 pack from a different company a while back (GoGirl!). Haven't been able to get the hang of it without piss dribbling out the back, lol. I recommend practicing while you're in the shower!

We used them in Iraq when we were on long (12+ hr) convoys and couldn't stop. (Men had the "luxury" of peeing directly into Gatorade bottles...) I agree on the practicing while you're in the shower comment. It takes some getting used to because if you REALLY have to go, it might get messy because the "cup" part may fill up before the tube is able to empty it out.

What is wrong with squatting down? Peeing standing up must be 1. uncomfortable 2. you have to aim well or 3. you have to clean up all the time

Instead of some shewee they need to introduce heated toilet seats, like in Japan. Nice, warm and comfortable!

I agree, squatting is the ideal position for pooping, peeing and having a baby, but can't always be done when you're at a festival or event surrounded by people. With these pee funnels, you can unzip your pants, put this thing in and do your business, all without having to reveal your butt and vagoo. – Nemesis Jan 28 2012 at 14:19
Nemesis, have you seen the "picnic pants" on Etsy? Might look a little weird with REI hiking gear, but I think they are pure genius. If you wear a skirt and these pantaloons with an open crotch you can pee anywhere without having to show off your business. etsy.com/listing/81534965/… – Happy Now Jan 28 2012 at 21:58

So you're surrounded by people and you just drop your pants a bit and begin whizzing? I don't know what special privileged you girls think we guys get....but doing this is a good way for one of "us" to get thrown in jail... – Monte Jan 25 at 3:29
This question is for girls - and they can drop their pants and begin whizzing anywhere they want to! – VB Jan 25 at 14:18

My sister was trained how to pee standing up as part of her survival and evasion training in the Air Force. They didn't use any devices and she claims it isn't that difficult to do.

It isn't that hard to do once you figure out the correct angle to lean. This is another one to practice in the shower before taking it out for a field test. – Happy Now Jan 28 2012 at 21:51

I haven't personally tried it, but have friends and family who swear by them for Burning Man...

There are many FUDs(female urination devices) out there. GoGirl, p-mate, freshette, urinelle, and others. I personally own a GoGirl and the p-mate and love them. It is easy to stand and pee with them anywhere. It is alot easier to use it if you have a long zipper and wearing boxers, so then you can insert the device through the fly and just pee. Its easy and comfortable, once you start to stand and pee you wont want to sit again.
