There is a live fit program that I have been doing which is based around a "Body Building" schedule, lifting 6 days a week with splits.

I'm wondering if anyone else did this program while following a Paleo type lifestyle?

Here's a link to the program:

I hope you aren't following her diet advice. It's actually pretty awful. The lifting is just standard BB splits, so it's no big deal either way. – Satchmo Apr 10 2012 at 20:34
No Im not following her diet program, which possibly why I am not seeing as "great" of results. I used to eat high carb and low fat in the past and I felt like I was always waiting for my next meal. I don't want to be controlled by my food. – PaleoGirl Apr 12 2012 at 22:38

I completed the LiveFit program earlier this year... finished in February.

I would recommend it if you are a beginner to weightlifting. I wouldn't recommend it if you don't want to dedicate EVERY DAY to going to the gym for twice as long as a workout should take. Sometimes I'd be in there for two hours to get everything done.

By the third phase you are trying to superset multiple MACHINES which is just douchey to do at a gym, and yes I have ran into people doing so. "I'm using this machine, this machine and this machine. Sorry." Give me a break.

My recommendation is to follow phase 1 and 2 in a way that you can accomplish it. Supersetting the SAME movements with each other is just dumb. Jamie does it a lot in Phase 2 and 3... I suggest mixing up the exercises and subbing something else for any exercise that doesn't make sense to do at the time. It'll happen often.

Greetings :)

I'm currently on the Jamie Eason Live Fit program, just starting phase II tomorrow. The only difference between what she describes on the trainer and what I'm doing is the dietary aspects. I'm greatly enjoying the challenge of the workouts so far (whether I'll still say the same by the end of the week, now that cardio is being introduced, is another matter). So far my experience has been positive: 4/5 days heavy weights suits my body-type and how I LIKE to workout, which I guess is a big thing when sticking to a program. I'm happy to see the program through as long as I don't get any adverse reactions due to 'over-training' which may potentially result as phase II & III wear on, and more circuit-style training and cardio are introduced. If I feel the need I may modify the program, but so far I'd say it's a WIN (and you're eating plenty paleo om-nom-noms)

Hope this helps, looking forward to hearing about other people's experience.

Peace.

Great! I'd love to connect and see how you progress. I am also starting phase II tomorrow, and worried that its now 6 days a week and I don't want to overwork myself. What type of macros do you follow? Have you seen muscle growth incorporating safe starches and proteins? I am still low-carb, I haven't lost any weight, but I feel stronger. – PaleoGirl Jan 29 2012 at 22:55
Similar story for me: I'm currently VLC after a fling with higher carbs in Phase I. I'd a few weeks of dietary confusion where I thought I needed more carbs then I actually did: I just seemed to gain a lot of water weight and felt 'puffy' & fatigued all the time. I'm feeling alot better since dropping them & I don't seem to have lost any strength or energy in the gym. If I find that I'm starting to struggle then I may add in some carbs but touch wood I can't see that happening as it seems counter-intuitive for fat loss. Will keep you posted. Looking forward to hearing about your progress :) – Prudence Jan 30 2012 at 20:53

Just found Jamie Eason's live fit program! I am super stoked as I felt myself wandering aimlessly around the gym now that I have moved and CrossFit is so far away. :(

This looks exciting and I hope to start tomorrow. I was wondering if anyone else had done it with Paleo. So glad to have found some that have! I have about 30 lbs. to lose right now, and honestly my "cardio" wasn't doing much these past three weeks!

What's your take on the supplements? I am really kind of anti supplement. Just switched protein shakes to a purely hemp protein powder.

If you can please let me know what your results are so far with her program and how well you were doing before. :) Thanks!

I don't mind supplements, as long as its beneficial. I take Probiotics, Digestive Enzymes, Vitamin D, Cod Liver Oil, B12 Liquid drops and Magnesium. I was anti-supplements too but when I don't take it, I don't feel as energized as I do when I take them. I have about 15-20lbs to lose and I was doing cardio (spinning/running) for a good year and didn't notice any changes. I was doing Paleo for about 2 weeks when I started the LiveFit program. So far, I've lost 5 lbs, but I've been stuck there for about a month, which is fine b/c I'm gaining muscle. Overall I like the program a lot. – PaleoGirl Feb 21 2012 at 1:14
