Right now I go to an office affiliated with the Framingham Heart Study. Great:/ Anyway, I was in for conjunctivitis, and the urgent care doc lectured me on my LDL from 2 years ago, and wouldn't take my counter that my HDL and trigs were good. (LDL-149; HDL-50, Trigs-77, if you're wondering). At the time, I was just starting to eat WAPF.

Anyway, now that I'm eating essentially Primal, I'd kind of like to see where things are at now (a quick screening yesterday said my TC was 209-I do realize that's a useless # but proof enough that my high fat eating ways aren't sending my cholesterol through the roof). And my doc wants me to come in for a physical. But I'm tired of this office. Is there anywhere else I could go? I'm thinking of Visions Medical in Wellesley, but I'd be happy to hear recommendations for anywhere.

Get your own blood tests. You don't need a doc for that.

I'd recommend the Marino Center in Cambridge and the Rothfeld Center in Arlington; I've been to both for thyroid problems and the doctors I went to are fairly open-minded as far as paleo/primal. Dr. Pugh at the Marino Center is against statins IIRC if you don't want to deal with that garbage re: your cholesterol, and the turnaround for the bloodwork there is fairly quick. All doctors at both centers are available through e-mail contact, too.

Your doc was right, I think.. Your HDL is pretty low and your LDL is pretty high.

As I said, this was 2 YEARS AGO. I had just gone to WAPF, and now I eat Primally. – Heather Jan 29 2012 at 21:53
so do you know the breakdown of your TC or are you just assuming the HDL went way up and the LDL down? – citrusfire Jan 30 2012 at 16:15
