Has anyone had success using homemade Kava root tea with coconut milk to cure alcohol or smoking addiction. I've had Kava a few times in the past, and notice my urges to smoke cigs and drink beer disappear (same with smoking pot, although I can't do that). Any success using it long term? Did you become addicted to Kava instead? P.S.- the liver damage scare with Kava is bogus.
Not to be a total bummer, but when "Oh I'll just drink Kava instead" became the newest scheme for me to beat my alcohol and cigarette habit, as a charming 22 year old, I was just beginning to barely and naively chip at an iceberg which would takes years and years and way more work than steeping hawaiian root pulp to really uncover.
You cannot become addicted to Kava.
Second Kava does not cause liver damage.
Kava capsules were banned for because the makers, substituted non-root parts of the plant, such as the leaves, of which non-root parts can cause liver damage. Real, pure kava, causes no liver damage.
There are plenty of people in Hawaii who drink kava every day, and have been doing it for thousands of years. There is not 1 kava-related death.
The hard part about kava is finding effective kava. One website that sells good stuff is nakamalathome.com
All the other websites... forget them. They tend to all sell non-effective stuff. On Ebay, you may find some sellers on the islands themselves who sell their native kava.
